You're hypocritical enough to start a thread hating on armin, and bigging up tiesto, and then call me a fanboy for saying armin plays less "housey" than tiesto...? (i enjoy the irony you're jumpin on the bandwagon of hating "dj worshippers" tho)
so, can i say that i think armin is a better dj than tiesto if i put IMHO after it?
that comic is stupid anyway: so i can't say that i like armin without being a fanboy who is following trends?? he's a good DJ, and i had a mad time at the white party for many reasons: most of them because armin set a great atmosphere: and if you think any DJ can do that, you've seen some insanely good djs, or know nothing about djing... and i also think you'll find a majority of the crowd was impressed at the white party: and if you didn't like it, don't go next time: not too hard to figure out |
Sorry for the late reply but as you know I don't hang out here as much.
I'll admit i didn't follow Tiestos late work but I must add that I've been to a few shows of him and Armin in the past. Out of the two, Tiesto had been more impressive than Armin without exception and hoping it'll be the case again.
The white party was a total disappointment for me. Maybe I miss the old days when trance was trance. DJs didn't have to play house, electro etc to keep the new crowd interested by making them say "i love this track. It was on Nova the other night". Just pure Trance. As I said if Tiesto plays same kind of shit as Armin did, Fark him too.
White party production was superb, Sound system was incredible, Mixing was flawless and the vibe was OK but the music was totally out of place. Too many brake downs, too many build ups, hardly any continoues banging tune to keep the 'dancing' crowd interested.
The 'crowd' wasn't impressed at the White Party as hardly anyone was moving other then the front center row worshippers. Most even didn't know how to dance that crap Armin threw at the decks. Even that many "shufflers" weren't around which we're accustomed to see in such events!!!??? (should have gone the Hernan Catteneo gig the day before white. Damn me)
Believe me, I have seen good many DJ's/events and I can tell apart good from bad. Armin is a superb DJ and my HD's are full of his ASOT sets, but the music he played that night was shite. full stop.
The cartoon strip posted by Sunrise3500 is hilarious and absolutely correct. Superstar DJ's farked the scene. On the other hand a handfull masters still keepin it real! Cattaneo, Digweed, Sander van Doorn, Sean Tyas, Taucher(mad kunt), Joof are to name a few (ok, the first two are Prog not Trance. no need to get smart with me).
You can bet I won't be attending any Armin only crap anymore as you suggested but that doesn't stop me saying "The King is/was naked"
We shall judge Tiesto after his show here not before...My expectations are high of him and hopefully won't be disappointed... sniff.
(goes away and watches Tiesto in Concert DVD)
