Also, the way that he stated his case was a little arrogant to me. Since you actually produce Subtle, and are not generally insulting or arrogant, most of us would probably be quite happy to discuss ways of getting around cliches with you.
I was thinking of a clever and spiteful reply but couldn't... so, I hope you're happy - you hurt me bad... real bad.
what was arrogant? the cheekiness? like I have an illusion of being somewhat important for someone to actually consider my "tone" as serious??? and who gives a shit of how the case is stated? is it true or not? or do you just care about the tone, not the message? my point was rather clear - tance has become stagnant and wallowing in its own vomit. the end. rest of you decided to conjure up some crap that wasn't there to begin with and threw the first rock in terms of insults. for every action....
Cheers.

This guy does have a point about the lack of originality.
The market is being flooded with garbage because everyone wants to be a DJ/Producer these days and its getting easier to do so. Its to bad this guy does not know what he is talking about... Saying minimal sux? moron.. Minimal is the genre that is pushing the boundaries of creativity. I think the guy has a point about cliches but just has no idea how to express himself because he does not know enough about the music.

Nice ninjar edit... I was gonna agree with you after your 3rd same post but since you yanked it, I'll have to argue my point.
1. just because I don't like minimal does not mean I don't know music, dick. It's a matter of taste, not knowledge. I'm sure I'm not alone in that regard.
2. yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about. so fucking what? does it make me less qualified to understand where an element is being overused?
Sure, you can say - "well, no one told Picasso that yellow is overused and he shouldn't use it". But that's not the case! it's not the content, it's the same fucking shit in and out. it's as if every single one of the artists decided to paint the same fucking building.
clear?

If you don't like it don't listen to it. We produce what we like to hear. End of discussion? I think so.

Dude its fine that you dont enjoy minimal but dont classify it the way you did because like you said you dont know much about it so leave it out of your rant entirely. The overused element stuff I couldnt agree more so I have no problem with that statement.

yes
and..
Yeah, you had your point in the original post, which was more like a rant, but why insult the people that disagree with you? Why not engage in a debate with those that disagree with you rather than just shove an ad hominem argument in their faces? That's all I've seen since your first post. In all seriousness, where would you like to see things go?

Good point, 3F05Q. It would have been much more constructive for aNYthing to offer up some suggestions for what they would like to hear. Maybe some examples of artists they feel ARE pushing the envelope, that we could pay attention to?
I could complain for ages about many musical styles I don't particularly enjoy and point out why I don't enjoy the majority of the style. But I don't. I just listen to musical styles I do enjoy and let others listen to the other styles.
aNYthing, if there are some particular sounds you want to hear and nobody's delivering it, either offer to pay producers to create the music you want to hear or start learning how to create it yourself.
Your original point is not without merit. But there are some producers still creatively using some of these "cliches" in new ways. There are producers who are pushing the boundaries and people will start noticing them because they're bringing something new to the table. Trance has "died" more times than I can remember and sometimes I also felt that way. But that was a matter of my personal viewpoint, not the objective reality. I was focussing on the "sameness" rather than the exciting new producers coming out. And they are always coming out, sometimes in smaller numbers, sometimes in greater numbers. Focus on the producers pushing the boundaries and you'll have a different view than if you focus on the majority.
