In an interview I conducted with Oakenfold he assured me his hearing is fine.

Makes me wonder about some things now.

It is only appropriate - Tiesto probably properly banged out "Southern Sun" (Tiesto Rmx)

I bet some people say "well tiesto does the same thing". No he doesnt you fucking hater, jump on the tiesto hate bandwagon some more. Every time I have seen tiesto he fucking owns the crowd and never plays the same sets over and over again. He has GREAT crowd interaction and you can tell he fucking loves what he is doing..

just a shame he is so poor at it. Okie has done a great lot for the scene as a whole, there is no denying that. If the old man is making a living by being "paul oakenfold", i dont really mind. Some of the best dj's i have heard in my life didnt use any mixing skills at all, but it didnt matter, everybody knew they had them at some point at besides, right in this moment we were in, they sure had all of us by the ...hair.

Randall
mampi swift
hype
Andy C
emok
carl cox
das saund
etc...

not technically great dj's (xept hyde and emok), but the best dj's i have ever heard.

another thing is the fact that a dj like him, has to play the 15-20 most popular anthems...every night. thats what people expect. They are not paying loads of cash to see some Dj masturbate all over himself technically, or with strange 100 copy bootlegs.. they are paying to see oakenfold play what THEY belive to be the anthems of the day. I would get sod bored with it having it like a job like that aswell.

Dude but how about if you explain to the crowd that they are being ripped off, listening to something that could off just listen in a stereo car, or stuff, and no offense but you don´t see tiesto, AVB, PVD, and the list goes on, getting bored of what they are doing, i mean if you really love what you do, you could get a bit tired but no bored and so oakenflod playing pre- sets just shows that he knows he is being a thief and he still doing it how fucked up could that be..

i understand where youre comming from. my own feelings, read this, my own FEELINGS are the same. I take pride in what i do, but i know a lot of people who are deemed major "pros" and i know what they have to cope with. The fact is, thepunters go to see "Paul oakenfold". period, end of sentence. And if you ask them as they go out what they thought about the fact that it is a mixtape he played, most (non producers or bedroom dj's) would say...."the point being? i came to see paul oakenfold, and i saw paul oakenfold, have good one mate and come of it"

There is no ripping off here if the punters generally speaking had a good night out, only in the idolisation of a single individual. But that itself is just as ridiculous as it is the human nature apparently.

you re right, any joeschmoe could go on stage and do what paul does now...but joeschmoe is not paul oakenfold, and thats why he is paid so much money to stand there and try not to fall over from all the snorting and vodkashots.

yeah i know what you mean, and it was not my intention to make any offensive comment, but you know what bothers me the most, is the fact that he is not even beatmatching the same tunes, i mean a couple a months ago, Armin played over here, so i went to the event, and i turned out a bit dissapointed cause he played almost the exact same tunes on the last ASOT of that week, unless Remy that he played an awsome set, but since no much people knew him, they did´nt payed much attention, and it makes me wonder, right now what is more important of being a dj/producer, being handsome a people liking looking or improve your skills over the years. i dont know

A Dj and producer should always aim to make his skills as good as they can be and his crows as happy as they can be. Bit paul is neither, he is a superstar in his genre. And superstars is just another thing alltogether. They dont really need skill, in fact he could pull out his dick and "water" the first 3 rows of people and they would love him for it. thats a superstar!

So for most even famous Dj's, the first applies. Skill, perceverence, some luck and a good network is what drives them, but superstars....man.... example, is britney spears one of the greatest vocal artists of this century and the last? so why all the attention? get my point? and i took no offense from your post. i have a language barriere which i think can make me come of as more crass than i am, dont worry
