The epic stuff has been pretty snore-inducing for the most part, this year... too many remakes of older songs, too many vocals. Can't even remember any standout tracks. I'm much more into the proggier sounds lately - even stuff like Anjunadeep.

i haven't found good new trance in ages (apart from a few exceptions).

trance now couldn't be much worse. and this really makes me sad/mad/irritated because trance is my favorite genre.

Lamai - Troubled Soul (Paul Webster Dub) is about as much as i can stomach from recent months...

I can see a number of factors that makes modern day trance complete pants starting with our accessibility to this genre with every pro dj and his fanbase now flooding the airwaves and internet space with mixes, radioshows and livesets.

Tunes that should be as fresh and interesting as their '02 counterparts never have time to bubble under as that "unknown" material anymore, and in a couple of weeks its forgotten.

The first point is giving random wannabe producers the opportunity to churn out tracks month after month without any thought on quality, where in the past their label contact would've wiped their ass with most of the stuff passing for releases these days.

As most of us have listened to trance for longer than 3-4 years, every soundbank and breakdown is sounding like tried&tested method for us all,that only sounds good, when done so brilliantly or unorthodox to surprise us and interest us in a trance record again.

Filter through all genres on download sites and hype forums like these, and you may still find some quality hidden amongst all the crap.

Do you call these crap or quality then, because I'm listening trance since 1994 and think both are great?

EQ'd to the maxx uplifting trance... whooshing-washing ultra-produced synths... full-stop breakdown/build that lasts nearly two minutes... a hook that is nice but won't be remembered by the end of the year... sounds pretty run-of-the-mill as far as this kind of trance is concerned.

Menno de Jong at 1015 in San Francisco and The Digital Blonde guest mix on GTG was just PvD set at Space for WMC was decent. other than that its been ok so far. i havent checked out ASOT since October so I dont know how that show is doing but can't imagine it being any better than pre 03, maybe 05.

I used to check out ASOT and GDJB regularly in order to update myself on any decent material, but it became increasingly apparent as 2007 rolled on that there was very little decent material to be had, and I essentially just placed tuning in to those shows (and many other shows) quite low on my listening priority lists.

Sure enough, 2007 was one of the worst years I could remember, though I would hope things have taken an upswing this year.

But at this point, I'd probably be fine just picking up an occasional major Trance mix comp, which essentially summarize the prominent things I missed. There really isn't much of a reason (at least for me) to consistently tune in to most of these shows, as there's just so much terrible content being broadcasted on a weekly basis.

Then your discription is what makes it great, because that then I think descripes my taste.

So I guess I like max uplifting trance, ultra synths, full stop long breakdown/build ups.

So all TA's with this taste probably would like them.
Obviously you're not one of them.
