The problem with written letters was REAL chain letters, not just stupid forwards. As a kid I use to always get stupid chain letters either about mailing stickers or just avoiding curses, and I was silly enough to spend hours mailing out these letters.... bahhh to be a kid again

MSN really takes the kick out of long distance relationships

MSN also makes them work IMO...or at least more plausible in many cases.

They definitely have the potential to cause more fights...but if you have good communication and understanding of each other, it doesn't really happen that much.

The way you say it, it could mean that MSN period would cause disaster in friendships/relationships. I'm quite sarcastic too though, so I know what you mean.

Msn was the only way I could keep in touch with most of my friends back home when I was living in TO .. so I use it quite often.. and now I use it to keep in touch with the TO people until I get back

nah. MSN isn't as romantic.

letters are personal. it requires time and effort. it means more to get a personalized letter than random electrons floating across your screen

I agree that letters are more personal, and it's nice to get letters in the mail from a loved one now and then. And with the internet craze, it's a pleasant surprise to get a letter in the mail from a significant other..but coming from a person who has been in 2 serious long distance relationships over the past 4 1/2 years (give or take), MSN and electronic communication in general has made a big difference in making things work. The personal letters are more of an added sweetness/romanticism.

Have you been in a long d relationship? Phone/Letters/SEEING EACH OTHER are all great, and much preferred in most circumstances....but MSN makes an important difference (at least in my personal experience, and the experiences of 3 of my closest friends - 2 whom are in serious long distance relationships overseas)

Sorry to hear that. Personally, I find that long distance relationships CAN work and that the internet has really helped a lot. Obviously ya you'd rather be with the person, and doing romantic things like sending perfume filled letters is nice once in awhile, but like I said, MSN and the internet does make things work at lot better....at least from my own personal experience and that of many of my close friends who are in long distance relationships.

But then again, I also know a number of people who don't understand how I've done it, or how my friends do it. I think it's VERY dependent on the two people involved. Some people can make it work, whereas it's not possible for others.
