Speaking of not using sidechaining, I remembered back to this older track I did, long before I even knew what sidechaining was and I think it turned out pretty good. This has a lot to do with the fact that its psytrance so the kick is snappy and short so it doesn't collide with the bassline by default. With trance though and the typical long subby kicks, sidechaining would be critical IMO.
yeah there is....you can hear it. Just not the low threshold high ratio super pump prydz style of nowadays...
Unless its just some wierd heavy mastering compression going on in that..
Sidechaining IS usable in a very subtle way as any of you who have spent time in a real studio or worked with any other type of music away from 4/4 kick should know...
And there is no bloody rule that says is can only be used on bass to make space for drums...!!!
