NYC's MTA also runs 24 hours. It means the stations tend to be dirty because trying to keep it clean is just impossible. Having said that, I'll take dirty stations for 24 hour access. The one way fare is a good value since it's only $2 no matter how far you travel. It's even better when you have an unlimited pass.
The tube in London is definitely one of the better systems I've ridden. Easy to understand maps, cushioned seats are definitely a plus. I loved going around London on the tube. I just hated the price of an all day pass.
Personally, my favorite systems are Hong Kong (MTR), Singapore (MRT) and DC (Metro).
