The CN Tower is aging and looking a bit ugly. Apparently it affects bird migration. I think it may be time to tear it town. Agreed?

this is about revitalization..we talk about being world class...unforutanately, our waterfront being in the condition it is in..we are falling a little short of this mark..

they are not proposing to tear down the whole highway..it is a section from jarvis to the dvp that is ALWAYS empty..i travel on it at least three time a week...will it create some problems?..potentially..but it will not be chaos as some on here are predicting..

I'm not saying I think the tearing it down part is ridiculous. I also know they're not proposing to tear the whole thing down. Next time, please read, understand, and then respond to my posts.

What I'm saying is that diverting the traffic onto University is retarded. If you're going to tear down a section of the Gardiner, feel free! But bloody well make sure there's something good to replace it.

You go on it 3 times a week? Goody for you. A lot of my friends go on it 5-6 times a week and they are all saying there _is_ traffic on it, and that this will be a problem. Yes, it's emptier than other parts, but there are still people using it.

I don't need to be condescending...I happen to think I read quite well..my comprehension and deduction skills are out of this world too..

I never mentioned the world "ridiculous" ..I was replying to your comment about people living downtown..and I added some comments of my own that had nothing to do with your post....so please "understand" that my whole statement wasn't just a response to your post...I apologize for quoting your whole post and not sections of it..

and I'm not going to split hairs about how much traffic there is on that part of the highway....my poing was that it is rarely jammed with traffic..once you hit jarvis goin east..you are free of any traffic..and the same goes heading west..once you hit jarvis/yonge area...traffic is jammed..

cheers..

The section IS underused and never ever has a Traffic jam.

Tear it down and connect them with smart lights and pedestrian bridges like lakeshore and there will be no problems. 4 lanes is more than adequate and the area will be cleaned up.

Probably have to upgrade the Richmond exit into a 2 laner as well, that won't be cheap.

So let me get this straight. Because there are never traffic jams this means that its underused?

WHAT???

Perhaps its one section of town that is actually built properly and for this reason there are no traffic jams? The point of highways is to help PREVENT traffic jams. They are high capacity in nature and thus relieve normal side streets and roads. Dont worry, im sure there will be plenty of traffic jams once the efficiency is removed and the traffic is forced to merge together. No one is considering the fact that lakeshore blvd will also cease to exist so essentially we have 7 lanes each way being reduced to 4 with an added bonus of traffic lights and slow speed limits. I cant wait!

Only in toronto would one equate underusage with smooth flowing traffic.
