It was a push that prevented Ferreira from headering that ball away and allowed Ballack to score, thats not a little push in my book.
Just shows once more how unsportsmanlike Ballack is.
It would've been a whole different games if Germany hadnt scored that goal, for starters, in theory, it would've been 2-2.
I can't believe everyone's behaving like he molested him with a hand to the back. In reality, in slow motion it looks completely exaggerated. If you look at it in normal play, it is miniscule. Furthermore, if you're going to rip on Ballack for unsportsmanlike behavior because of that, then might as well call every football player dirty. It happens ALL the time, fuck I do it on offense and defense, and had it done to me plenty of times. And I play in some bumfuck middle-of-nowhere amateur league in Maryland.
The Portugese can cry all they want. But the defending was terrible regardless of whether Ballack pushed someone or didn't. And not only on that goal, all three German goals came from poor marking, allowing the attacker to get in front of/or behind and have a clear play at the ball. If you're going to focus on that one moment and blame the WHOLE game for it, then your country might as well not be participating in the tourney, the game was 90 minutes long (+ stoppage) maybe Portugal should've focused less on Ballack's push and more so on scoring more goals than the opposition. But I guess Ronaldo's little whiny ass attitude has rubbed off on the whole Portugese contingent.

It doesn't change the fact that it was a foul that the ref missed

voila
And yes, i find it very unsportsmanlike for a player to try and make a goal like that. It's the same as diving for a penalty of scoring with your hands.

At that level, hell even at high school level you're expected to know how to give little fouls without getting called every time. Too bad Portugal never learned how to take advantage of the rules. I thought Pepe should have been ejected, but hey the ref saw it differently, so no use crying about it now.

Great for Germany.... always liked them. Sucks for such a strong team as portugal.

The amount of pushing that goes on during free kicks and corners in football is huge. You can't expect to get a foul every time you're pushed. It's no excuse for Portugal- they were shit at defending set pieces.
I'm really quite pleased at having bet on Germany now. Holland are their primary threat.

Well, I expect it to be called when it's a foul by a player directly involved in the play, in this case scoring the goal.
But you're right when you say it's not good enough as an excuse. We defended poorly and the germans took their chances.

To be honest I didn't notice either push in the replays as anything out of the ordinary. In the Premiership such physical battles are commonplace.
