I should rephrase that: fuck off Germany, you have done absolutely nothing to be there. The defence is pathetic - the duo of centrebacks is a joke, Lehmann was a joke today, Lahm incomprehensibly got the MOM award after being dribbled past 20 times during the game. The midfield is good defensively but has zero creativity.

Germany's game consists in: set pieces; being there just waiting for the opponent keepers to mess up (Rustu was just as bad in the 2nd goal today as Ricardo was in the quarter final); and the quick nice counter-attack plays involving Podolski and Schweinsteiger that happen only once per game. Then their finishing, which is the only truly world class thing in the team, takes every single fucking chance.

Turkey deserved to win this game even more than we deserved to win the quarter-finals. I hope Arshavin or Villa will murder that german defence in Vienna.

Storms disrupt TV coverage of Germany-Turkey
Associated Press

Updated: June 25, 2008, 5:41 PM ET

VIENNA, Austria -- The end of Germany's 3-2 win over Turkey in the European Championship semifinal was a thriller that few outside the stadium saw.

A violent thunderstorm swept across Austria to knock out telecommunications for most of the second half of the gripping match. Television pictures reappeared briefly, but then vanished altogether for most of the last 15 minutes, when three goals were scored to give Germany a place in Sunday's final. Internet coverage of the game also was interrupted.

Spectators at the match in the Swiss city of Basel remained dry and unperturbed throughout. Only on Swiss TV and Al-Jazeera was the entire game available.

The problems arose in neighboring Austria, where lightning, thunder and torrential rain caused a power outage at the International Broadcast Center in Vienna, from which the telecast is beamed all over the world. ESPN cut back to its studio analysts during the outages and showed video of spectators watching at a FanFest in Basel.

UEFA officials said the signal initially went down for six minutes in the 76th minute of the match, then "there were a couple of more interruptions," said Wolfgang Eichler, a UEFA spokesman.

Officials also shut down Vienna's main Euro 2008 fan zone and evacuated fans after the thunderstorm lashed the Austrian capital. Authorities said they gave the order to close the fan zone after the storm unleashed winds exceeding 60 mph.

No injuries were reported during the evacuation, which was carried out during the match.

I wouldn't say so, man! .DE was seriously threatened in this game! That they were able to squeak through is largely due to luck.

sad thing is, this is becoming normal behavior for Germans!

squeak through, thanks to someone's mistake or just pure luck, without offering us viewers anything impressive and memorable! it's happened before!

Turkey should get some kind of honorary award. Talk about a team that doesn't quit. Great game today.

Great teams always manage to find a way winning, it doesn't matter if they played good or not.

Turkey proved it by coming from behind and scoring late in most of its matches.

Germany beat them at their own game by not abandonning after the '86 turkish equalizer, Germany could've sat there and wait for the overtime, but they didn't.

Sure the Germans looked apathic and frankly boring ( i found the game generaly boring ), but they scored like 1 times in 2 when they really pushed forward, it looked too easy for them, all 3 goals, but they looked like they didn't want to win... weird.

Germany still manages to reach the finals, 3rd place in 2006, finals in 2002... they must be doing something right, right?

Great run Turkey, but it wasn't enough.
