Man.. That really sucks.

You are right there, dude. It is a good example on how hard it is to actually make it BIG as a EDM producer. You're selling your "flesh 'n' blood" for as low as 0.99 to 1.49 a pop and then some people just bypass this via various means of piracy. Then comes the mean ol' label and steals about half of your earnings. Yoink.

a track than last two weeks arent much more worth than 1.49.
way to make some money is be good enough to be able to run a liveshow.

i don't know what "topping all charts" means to you, but being in the top100 certainly isn't that. unless your track is in the top10 beatport chart or atleast the top10 beatport electro house chart, the chances are it didn't sold that much. the smaller stores like djdownload sell like 1% of what beatport is selling. in audiojelly for instance you can easily be in the overall top10 with selling only 50-100 copies. unfortunetly music just doesn't sell as much as people think it does.

but like said already, to set the record straight, ask for the statements from your label.

I didnt realise that djdownload didnt sell much. It did go into ministry of sound downloads inside track section top 30 basically. I have since learned MOS download is just djdownload but a different colour!

All i meant was it got to number one there and on beatsdigital.com but if these only sell 100 copies each or whatever and i was due about Ģ0.50p per sale then thats not a lot so fuck it.

TBH i would be more proud if i managed ever to sell a trance track!

I think trance requires more skill and musical ability. like for instance for electro i just messed about but for trance I am taking piano lessons and trying to learn about scales and chords and stuff. Never went that deep with electro. Plus a good trance song is timeless a good electro song can last for one week before you get sick of it.

thanks for advice guys

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.

for the record beatports statement on "statements" is:

'Unfortunately, due to our agreements with the labels, we are not authorized to give you this information; you may want to contact directly your label manager.
If you have any further queries donīt hesitate to contact us again.'

I have had two tracks that I got signed to Digital Assault, and I know at least one of them was as high as number 4 on the best selling chart on trackitdown.net. Cant remember if the second one made it as high up as top10, but I know that both of the tracks got played out alot by big name dj's, so im guessing it mustve probably sold a bit too.
Both tracks were released in 2006 i think.

Still havent seen a penny.
