Pure lush, Mr Turner. I really can't wait for a tracklist, that was beautiful.

I'm pretty tired of dance music lately but this has gotten enough good reviews that I'll give it a whirl.

Downloading...

Between the cover art, the mix title, and you claiming it's full of techy goodness (and Detroit techno too :O ) Ihave to download this. I hope it's as win as Hunter S. was.

This mix was beautiful and chill as fuck. Really loved the whole "live instruments" theme. Horns and guitars going off everywhere...so tasty.

I remember that "Turn It Around" track from some time ago, is this a recent remix or an old gem I never heard?

Track with the sax towards the end is a monster

I am also definitely feeling the presentation of the live instruments in this set. For example, the tremolo violins/strings that come in around 10:20 are very nice.

This set is full of nice percussion throughout, which is something I've always appreciated about your sets. If I had to pick one thing out of this set that stands out to me, it's the use of percussion.

I must admit that this set does get boring for me in certain spots, but you always manage to bring it back around to my attention. I've noticed this happens a lot to me with this kind of set when I listen to it at work though, because I have to listen on crappy PC speakers at a reasonable volume.

That track that you ended with was definitely surprising, and pretty chill. I really enjoyed it. It sounds pretty familiar to me but I'm not sure why.

I think you and I have a pretty similar philosophy about putting our sets together, albeit a bit different presentation. I think we both are treading the prog/tech line, but I think you lean a little heavier to the tech than I (or, dare I say it, yours are a more "minimalistic" approach). I find that I either want a bassline that really grooves or a melody that catches attention (but not in the unicorn-trance kind of way), and some of your tracks I feel get a bit "jazzy" for my taste. I'm not really sure how to explain it, because I love "jazzy" sounds, but, I guess things can get a bit bland for me. A lot of "one note stab" melodies and such. I guess that's why I get proggy in my sets sometimes.

I still enjoy the set overall, don't get me wrong. Just trying to provide more feedback than the standard "great set man, I enjoyed it!" I think that if this set would have had a few of the deep basslines that your "Between The Lines" mix did, I would enjoy it ten times over. And, maybe it does. Damn these shit speakers.

I think my favorite part of this set is from a bit before to a little bit after the 30 minute mark (around the MLK speech). I just seem to really get into it around there.

Great job and spectacular mixing as always. Your technical mixing is something I've always admired about you and can really appreciate... this is mixed smooth as silk.

That is something I will also attest to... I could probably have heard this set without knowing who mixed it and said "Rob Turner" by the time it was a few songs in. You definitely have a recognizable sound.

Great job, Mr. T. Keep it up.

It's times like these I wish TA had an "insert quote" button on the reply page, but oh well - here goes.

@JBJ - Really curious to see whether or not you enjoyed this. Knowing a lot of people are moving on from the EDM scene in general, I always like to hear the thoughts of people who might be a little resistant to dance music at the moment.

@Pseudo Society - Thanks for grabbing it on a whim - hoping you were pleasantly surprised.

@tjpatel - Much like Glannie, I owe you an incredible debt of gratitude, not just for making this mix possible, but also for going above and beyond to help me hone my own sound. Without the two of you and your constant tips, there's no way I'd be able to stay sounding as current as I do, yet be able to maintain my own identity. It means a lot to me when folks who've had that kind of impact on me as an artist enjoy the end result. Thank you.

@IpLaYWiTLiGhTs - You raise an interesting question that I haven't found the answer to, and that has been asked in a few threads for this. The proper ID for that tune (which is on a compilation of rereleases) is:

Rocco - Thursday Night, Friday Morning (Original Mix) [Buzzin' Fly 2007, 2008]

But a lot of people have asked whether or not it was much, much older. The truth is, I don't know - and Discogs hasn't helped. The lyrics are eerily similar Alena - Turn it Around [1999] (some folks might be more familiar with the 4 Strings cover), but aren't exactly the same. So to answer your question - I don't know, but I'd like to.

@david.michael - Thank you so much for the thoughtful review bro, I always appreciate that kind of thoughtfulness. I definitely know that my taste will not always match those who are listening to it, so I can understand the notion that some people get tired of the needless noodling. One thing I will say, and only because you mentioned the speakers you were on, is that if you listen to this mix without a low end, it's going to sound very, very flat and bland. There is so much going on in the low range frequencies, that if you aren't hearing them all, you're probably missing a lot of what makes the set special.

That might not be the case - but just a thought in case you decided to give it another go in a different environment. Thanks again for everything duder - really appreciate it.

@Theodore Promotion - Hope you got my PM, and as always, I very much enjoy putting something together that you enjoy. Next time I'm in Atlanta you'd best make it out.

Thanks again to everyone else - this got a bit long, so I may have missed something or someone, but rest assured that I really do appreciate the fact that any of you would sacrifice even a few minutes to give this a shot, much less 78 minutes.
