I want to modify what I said about the 18-200 tho. I would only recommend it as an "all-around" walk about lens. Although I haven't seen tests for it, if I can go by Nikon's 18-200 offering, the lens has the potential for distortion at the extremeties - it's almost by nature. If you know what kind of shooting you plan to be doing (and you should) I would advise to target a more specific lens for your needs.
Yeah they are pre-order. Saw that too, and balked. I guess we will see how much the internet brings it down.
Also, I would be the first to tell people to wait and save more to get what you want and not to go "cheap" as that just results in disdain for your purchase. On the other hand, mastering this camera if only used casually and occasionally, not constantly, will result in too much equipment for someone who didn't use a manual focus SLR enough to understand what the different things do.

Also, I absolutely despise HDR, but these are a the ones that have changed my mind....but only because you were so subtle.
glad to hear you liked these HDR's. It's unfortunate what the masses have done to it - although I used to do the wilder HDR's in the past, I never came close to doing the absolutely obnoxious kind that has given it such a bad name. Ok. maybe a few times I came close. HDR can be very nice, when done subtly.

Yeah but unfortunately they are RARELY done subtly. They just look too cartoon like. If I wanted a cartoon photo I would ask for one. Yours were so subtle I was trying to figure out how they were HDR mostly since all I had seen previous to this were the ugly ones. Good job. Awesome pics.

Damn that Canon 50D is bad ass! I think I'm going with that one as a Christmas present to myself =) Now I'm a n00b when it comes to this stuff, so what lens should I go for? I know it depends what I'm going to be shooting so I'm looking for an all around usage lens. Thanks for your suggestions!

delobbo: sure the 50D is "expensive" now, but it isn't out yet, the D90 has been on the market for a little while, so the price will drop really fast after launch.
Watch out for black friday, price could be very intresting!

2 of my friends LOVE the 24-70 L series lens for an all around walk around lens as long as no long long zoom.

Wow, somebody that does HDR right. Kudos.
You could've achieved most results with say a 16-35L in the panoramic pictures.
