If there's one thing I know about AMerica, is that they are fat and stupid.
Bet I got ya all riled up didn't ya?!
Anyways, if theres one thing america knows what to do, its being patriotic. American's love their country a lot. In Britian, its almost the complete opposite.
It's been almost 'illegal' to be English. The laws are getting changes so that White people are being outlawed.
Example 1: Students at a university were told to take down an English flag in preparation for the World Cup, as it was deemed to offend other minorities. WTF? Pardon me, but what is wronfg with supporting your own country?
Old words have been banned, cos they are deemed to be politically incorrect, and might offend ethnic minorties. For fucks sake, calling "black ice" (the ice on a road that is invisible) is not racist, its a goddamn colour.
The phrase "getting down to the nitty-gritty" has been outlawed, cos ages ago, in the age of slavery, a slave was sent down to the bottom of a ship to clean all the grit or something.
The phrase "a good egg" has been banned, cos it is related to "egg and spoon" from which the word rhymes with "coon" (A derogratory word for coloured people) If anything, how would a foreign person know what the hell it's derived from?
You might think that I am a proud white person, angry that the country has lost it's identity.
Wrong, I'm a vietnamese person. And my parents came to the UK after fleeing the communist regime of Vietnam.
I'm proud to be British. SO are my parents. They came here with nothing, but persevered to be the people they are today (one is a teacher, one is a senior administrative manager for Royal MAil). They work and pay the taxes. They are particularly disgusted at the hordes of asylum seekers/illegal immigrants that are coming to the country. Why? These people come to the UK to feed on the benefits that my parents taxes pay. Nothing wrong with that you mgiht think. But the matter of the fact is, if the regime in say IRaq/afgahnistan etc was so bad, surely they would be gald to end up in any decent western country! They make a massive journey passing through many affluent countries (Germany, France, Italy etc) but they delight in getting to here and getting free stuff. I'd guess that they wouldn't bothere with schooling etc or getting a proper job either. Its no surprise then that a lot of racial tension occurs in some areas.
I delight in Britain doing well at something (good luck to the lads in JApan), I've got an education and I'm proud to be British. So should evey other British people. The Govvernment needs to look at its own people before diverting all their resources into something else.
Oh yeh, my only complaint is that American's are a bit too patriotic, which is reflected by hollywood into the movies. Only too many films have been made with the wrong viewpoints, or details which lead to the film portraying the AMerican's as the winners. (U571 is an example, it was a British submarine or something that actually was successful) PEarl HArbour is another example, of toning down the actual real devastation that the JApanese did.
But at least your patriotic.
WE'd probably be arreseted if ENgland won the world cup and we went out cheering, for disturbing the peace, and/or inciting racial tension!

First off:
| quote: | | Anyway..we all come from Africa anyhow Africa RULES |
WERD sistah! (I'm Capetonian )
I'm just gonna put in a few comments regarding different things I picked up throughout this thread.
a) As for Coup's JOKE... there are stats proving that America has the highest obesity and consumption of fast food rates on the planet.
Whereas this doesn't mean they are ALL lazy, it tends to make one think. It also makes it easier to contextualise the joke.
b) Patriotism. No doubt about it, America is the most patriotic in the world. And this surely starts to irritate those people from countries who are proud, but don't go around boasting it all the time.
Not saying that patriotism is a bad thing, it can just sometimes come across as a "neener-neener-nee-ner, my countries better than your's".
c) The whole Super-power thing. Bollocks. The lines that once determined what countries were Super-powers is heavily blurred. Almost every, if not every, country has at least 1 nuke. And as economy/population/etc goes, I see Japan becoming the next Super-power in the next 15-30 years, much like America was for the 80s and 90s.
d) Sept 11th. A tradegy no doubt. But some of the decisions made regarding it left me feeling rather doubtful of America. Someone reminded me the other day of America's policy for countries holding terrorists. If Bin Laden was found to be hiding out in a township in Cape Town, America would bomb it. Bomb my home town...? NO! Thats just stupid. And yet, people must realise that America is one HUGE place, and not all the people living there feel the same way about things.
I know my points have bounced around like Cyber-kiddie on too much speed, but I hope I got my thoughts across.
Coz I think a contributing factor to the America-bashing thing on this forum, is how noticebly far behind SOME parts of America are with regards to the dance music scene. Having watched the movies 'Go' and 'Groove', it's easy to see that the scene is very different from the rest of the world. It would seem that South Africa, Europe and Australia have similar levels of the scene, whereas America and the Orient both have different ones.

Tiesto14, I can't say I have noticed much of the stuff you've mentioned.
Quite a lot of the stuff being said is not "US-BASHING", it is bashing a particular law, or American politicians, or some such.
Bare in mind that 300 million people live in America. When someone attacks RIAA, or McDonalds, or or Pres. Bush, it's got nothing to do with you. You shouldn't take it as an attack on yourself.
Here in Britain, we take the piss out of ourselves all the time. Noone is frightened to admit our rail service is amongst the shittest in the first world, as is our health service, that our Prime Minister is an arsehole, that our deputy PM has a face like a bulldog, or that we still bang on about how we won the world cup 36 bloody years ago,
or anything else. In fact our News channels constantly take the piss. Noone really gets worked up about it though.
Quite a lot of people seem to think Americans are insecure. I for one think there is a lot of insecurity in the US, just from people I've met and seen on the net. How many countries, for example, argue that guns should be legalised for 'self defence'? And all the flag waving that is done in the US is more so than anywhere else. And threads like this; whenever someone criticises American law it is "US bashing". Just chill, we're not out to get you, but when you start acting so insecure, you make yourself an easy target for piss-taking. And don't forget that noone likes a bragger.
As for the September 11 stuff, I haven't been reading the chill out forum much the last few weeks, but to be honest I've never seen much insensitive behaviour here. I can understand why you might get worked up, but just ignore it. In Britain, thousands of innocents and hundreds of soldiers have been killed by the IRA, a terrorist organisation which gets it's funding from America. Yet we don't kick up a stink.
If there was blatant anti-American sentiment on these boards, I'd agree about speaking up about it, but I honestly don't think there is.
