I don't recall a number of thoughtful opinions posted on this forum that categorically stated that Deadmau5 sucks (certainly not myself). Even RJT, I think in his Radio Slave thread a few months ago, mentioned that Deadmau5's material manages to work their way into his sets every now and again.

Absolutely - there's no question about it. It's funny that people think the default position is "LOL, everything Deadmau5 has done is shit", when in reality I've paid for my fair share of things he's done.
He isn't categorically terrible by any stretch of the imagination (nor have I ever said as much), but the way he conducts himself and what's worse, the general populous response to his work, is entirely unwarranted.
As you said yourself:

As is the case with Tiesto, I don't find the gushing adoration of his fanboys warranted, nor do I find him deserving of the inflated remarks of complete and utter talentlessness.
His immense and quick rise to fame, the transparence of his signature style, and the fact that he's so accessible via forums like this makes him something of an easier target, but as far as I'm concerned, he's no better or worse than any number of other artists who are generally hit and miss. |
But of course, everyone automatically thinks because Joel feels compelled to come on TA for what seems like no other reason than to be a complete and utter dickhead, that somehow we're all just "hating" on him for his music.
Such is life, oh well.
Awww, I thought you were "out"?
It's funny, I didn't think I'd ever encounter someone more self-conscious about what people on the internet think of them than Dave Dresden.
Yet again, Deadmau5 proves me wrong.
