The next panelist was right on though, Harper wasn't trying hard. His Mps were absent during the campaing (as in the rest of the country), this is not a way to win elections.

Bloc jumped on every occasion they had when Harper weakened on some issues.

I don't think it's an epic fail. they've made more gains in popular vote percentage, plus they have more PR from this election, even with a lot of their supports voting NDP or Liberal to offset the Cons

as expected, seems like TO and parts of MTL voted Liberal again with most rural areas going non-Liberal

Calgary was all blue again as expected

ps. it's now officially the lowest voter turnout in Canadian election history for what many will argue was a pointless election (when it was called)

Canadians should be ashamed of themselves for not going out and voting....58%....that is pathetic. It makes the whole process a complete joke...but don't worry...in two years we will be back at it again.

Voting for parties that have no chance isn't a waste of a vote. It's an exercise of your voting power. Your vote matters as much to Green as it does to Liberal (more actually, if we're thinking statistically). Voting only for the two major parties because only they have the chance at winning defeats both the purpose of democracy and the electoral process. How else do you expect the small parties to gain any sort of the momentum if everyone has the "well they won't win so let's not vote for them" mindset? It's exactly the opposite that gains them the votes they so need. If people wouldn't worry about the party winning (it's an election, not a race afterall), and instead focus solely on what party they feel represents best what they want for Canada, only then can these parties actually get a chance at winning. Sure it won't happen this election, and probably not the next, but in the far future, who knows? You're not going to be dead by then anyway, so might as well vote for the future.

I am a federalist who voted Bloc. I think that sums up how many people in Quebec thought a majority Conservative government was not going to be good for us.

Yeah. But it was hard to care about this election. I mean it was called for pretty much no reason (or at least to the average Canadian eye), the campaigning was weak all around, there was very little party promoting, instead it seemed to be all party bashing. It was next to impossible to know what the parties platforms even were.

This election was the biggest joke. Why would people want to vote?

I wasnt going to vote until I decided to a couple days ago. So many Canadians either a) dont care or b) are bitter towards the whole thing.

It also doesnt help that we care more about the US election than our own.

I bet that in 2 years even less Canadians will vote...

Also... If parties such as NDP, Bloc, and Green Party keep gaining popularity will it not be harder and harder to get a majority government?

I really think we need a majority government (even if it was conservative) at least something would get done... I am tired of these guys getting my money to sit and drink coffee, debate for hours and come up with no action plan.
