Eh, I tried to prevent it, but that sorta failed miserably. Now the thread has totally derailed.

Excuse me threadstarter, but i find this thread-subject a bit ambiguous and ermmm stupid and this is probably the reason that this thread natuarally rolled into nonsense and was finally "CoRified".
First of all, the subject itself would inevitably lead to some kind of genre wars, second everyone would have their own subjective criteria of why his/her genre of choice is better than the others (we saw that already)and third one (and most improtant IMO) why would one "want to defend a genre" in the first place? I mean, this requires that one listens to just one kind of genre and nothing else. And don't get me wrong, people who just listen to just one kind of genre with all their passion, following just this specific scene and possibly aquiring a whole liferstyle which is related to this specific genre/scene are...teenagers or dumb. I mean i listen to various genres of EDM and non-EDM respectively why should i restrain myself to just one specific genre? I can listen to post-rock group Godspeed You Black Emperor! and then put some Armin van Buuren and fill my room with unicorns and rainbows. You know, you don't have to belong to one specific music-related group e.g. "metallers", "punks","indie kids", "ravers" if you are a teenager or stuck at this stage get over it (sooner) lol.
