I read the short story, and its a big big meh, i don't get japanese litterature (and before you jump at me, yes I took japanese litterature in college).

To be fair, at that time, this kind of plot was unique. You could say that Pulp Fiction uses the same plot techniques.

Color of Paradise and Turtles Can Fly have been one of the most powerful films i have ever seen.. if you ever get the chance to watch it, you'll instantly know why i say this.

For one, the kid in Color Of Paradise is really blind..but pulls off a performance hardly matched by professional actors and the actors of Turtles Can Fly, well their condition is real.

Why? The different stories told by the witness are not supposed to make sense together, by the way, they are supposed to be contradictory. If you prefer, read Ryonosuke Akutagawa's "In a Grove", it's the short story that inspired Kurosawa.

Anyway, except for "The Idiot", I can't say I like any of Kurosawa's films... I too think Rashomon sucked, but for different reasons.
