Maybe I'm wrong, perhaps closer to 130 is what I meant..along the lines of Talla, JOOF, Eddie Halliwell, etc...I've seen all those DJ's already, so I mean there are hardly any DJ's that I haven't seen that do spin at that pace. Basically I don't want to see Menno, Van Doorn, and such.

I hope thats a bit more clear....I'm just used to spinning and listening to hardstyle so I'm in the 150+ BPM range

van doorn is 135-140bpm

menno plays at least 135

most trance is 135

even progressive trance is 130-135

hell, progressive house and house is 128

slower deep house is still 120

breaks is 135

drum and bass is 170-180

dubstep is a mix and also goes half and double time, but generally considered in the ballpark of 140

Yeah I was seriously underestimating the speed for sure, but last time I saw Menno at guv I dont think it was 135. Maybe, but def not more..or else I wouldnt be falling asleep listening to his shitty set. I guess I was just showing frustration at the lack of energy I've been hearing in trance at recent parties...I know it will never go back to the golden days but still....too wavy for my taste these days. And I'd like a link to a sample of Van Doorn playing at 140, very curious to hear such a thing as I have yet to experience it.

depends on the crowd, if you heard van doorn in montreal at an afterhours he'll prob reach that point. i've heard armin up at what def felt like 142 in kool haus at armada night in apr 07 when he was peaking his set, but yeah in general it stays more around 135. i make both these clips 138

Yeah I'd say thats a good estimate of the BPM on the clips. I'm just not a huge fan of the bassline in the first clip. Not nearly bouncy enough for my liking. Too flat. The second one is allright.

i can understand coming down from hardstyle it definitely doesn't feel fast even though the bpm isn't too far off, especially the first groove for sure.
