I'm not telling because of this Pet Shop Boys should be higher than Depeche Mode, but wondering how far they would be behind to me is not a stupid question.

Regarding influence and nobody remembers them any more:

I by no means claim to know it all, because I think I always tell something is my personal opinion and am very open for other opinions and views. And yes I'm a bit older than the average over here, but that makes it possible to share how I experienced music over the years.

Depeche have hit number 1 in many different places in their 30 year career and I'm sure the Pet Shop Boys have aswell but what you're listing here isn't influence or impact on electronic music, it's general popularity in the mainstream.

Like sljiva said the list of electronic artists and genres they've impacted is far greater than that of PSB. They've even influenced Pet Shop Boys! Neil Tennant once said that he wished he could've made Violator.

That being said I like PSB personally and there's no doubt they've done things for electronic music but not on the scope DM or New Order. Id say they've influenced pop music more than anything

Haha...I wouldn't even put Charlie May in the top three for all of electronic music.

Creative, uniqueness in electronic music. Not everyone here thinks neo classical and 80's synth pop is the best thing since twinkies, sweetheart.
