start out by using your family connections if you have any.

then job placement through your previous educational institution.

online platforms ie, craigslist, monster, etc.

hire a head hunter.

temp agencies.

go to job fairs.

your local paper.

ask you friends and network your ass off.

That's true for every profession that pays more than 50k. Materialistic whores.

Ha! funny, we call people like that Appliance_____" as well. Mostly people in Sales get that title.

yea srsly i use that site all the time.

however it seems that job hunting on the internet is a futile attempt at this time.
been out of work for almost 2 years now and after months of submitting resumes online i only have a handfull of interviews to show for it.

regarding what someone said a lot earlier bout teaching, getting a masters is obviously the more direct path to teaching but leaves you pigeonholed a lot more. A juris doctor qualifies you, in CA, to be able to teach at community colleges and even smaller universities while still leaving other options available to me.

regarding previous poster, i agree w/ the job websites, its a total clusterfuck. only companies constantly hiring are sales and commissions ones who make you phone jockeys, which for now I am steering clear of.

the discussion of nursing has been mentioned in previous posts. one reason that profession is always hiring is because it has such high turnover due to hospitals, when they look to cut costs, they look first at shafting nurses in terms of staffing enough people or giving them proper resources to do their job. i was reading a report where there are 10 yr cycles where hospitals really feel a crunch and go on a massive hiring spree for nurses, then after things calm down, axe who they need to (or cause many to quit), instead of finding long term solutions to satisfying nurses. a nurse anaesthesist makes great 6 figure salary by the way on top of great hours.

i think i may have to go the route of law clerk/legal assistant in firms for now. should i pass bar, wait w/ a firm til they are hiring and hope they promote from within but otherwise, just build up experience, pay off student loans, and make contacts. i like how the other day i read an article that in the US, all time high for unemployed lawyers, makes me feel all warm n toasty inside.

Look at how many lawyers focus on shit. Focus on corporate tax law type stuff, and it is much better.

It is pretty bad. It took me 3 months and I was sending out 50 resumes a day, had 6 agencies looking for me, talking to friends, anyone. It was hell.

It's always easier to find work when you have a job already. My resume has been updated and circulating for a couple months, just in case. But nobody is hiring in commercial finance right now, anyway LOL.

Oh, and nurses make more here in the states due to the privatized health care industry. Socialized medicine is capping wages in Canada and Europe.

(opening a giant can of worms )
