like I said, this are only some quick examples. "House Essentials and Techno Trance Essentials is 100% ripped stuff, too... Uberschall really had the balls to sample 50cent. Ouch. But on the other side... why not, its just a stupid drumloop...


to the history:
I am about 40 years old and I make music for a long long time now. I guess I held nearly every commercial sample cd in my hands.
Its a common practice to sample beats, oneshots etc... since the early beginnings of sample cds (AKAI, EMU etc...)
Breakbeats (amen), hiphop acapellas (how low can you go, etc... public enemy), movies, stabs, hits (often from jazz or other techno vinyls of that time), Drums, famous Fills - the list is endless.

these old "stabs" btw. are still sold by http://www.zenhiser.com, (the "stab & Synth Hits" pack... lol these are ripped from various old akai cds. Other modern sample library producer often rip directly from vengeance or vipzone (sounds of revolution, synthation for example)

so anything more to say?

no need to prove anything, you can ask Manuel himself on vengeance forums, he doesn't try to hide the fact that he used uberschall stuff as a base.

Manuel is a very open dude, you can ask him specific questions about any specific sample from any of his cds and he'll usually tell you exactly how he made it.

Vengeance does sample alot, but that isn't a bad thing, thats why no one cares. Like Ian Carey said in those tutorial videos, sometimes he finds loops taken from his own tracks and reuses them.

So you think it's fair to spend maybe a week in a studio sampling mp3's vinyl, cds etc. Then name the samples, maybe normalize them, Press a few thousand cds with the sampled material on, Advertise the material as your own, sell the stolen samples for 80 euros and make many thousands of euros off of them? lol at you.
You are telling me you wouldn't feel the least bit ripped off at paying money for illegal material that someone has just thrown together?

so, please do not buy ANY SAMPLE CD, any more. I could make you more lists like these, from so many actual sample packs. Nearly EVERY dance sample CD relies on sampled stuff, work done by thirds. In most cases, the "sampled" loop or drum had not even been done by the artist XY (!)... yes they even ripped it too from a record, or layered two loops of another sample cd... Thats the reason why no one complains. Do you really think, house artist "xy" recorded some real bongo players? Or they build a kick from sine waves? haha. Thats too much work, they just used a loop from source xy (mostly 70s records). Thats house music!

Man, comon sampling is a giant circle of evolution. And this is good!

sample cds are just that... cds of SAMPLES... you get samples by sampling stuff... are 808 and 909 samples not legit because they're just ripping off Roland's hard work synthesizing those sounds? i don't think so.. should all sample cds be stuff they completely synthesised themself? Should they have to build their own synthesizer first?

Well i have bought many sample libraries that are most definately not sampled.

The vengeance stuff just has a high-pass filter over it. They dont change the samples in any way whatsover from the sounds i have heard.

You sound as though you are living in the past mate.

Do you work for vengeance sound or something?

Please do name some newer sample cds that rip off artists. Would be good to know.

I agree with Smole, so what if they ripped them, they still did all the work to tidy up the samples, organize them, and label them. I personally don't care. I only use samples for drums and sometimes fx, and even when I do, I put my own twist on them also. And personally, I wouldn't care if they ripped my material, not that they would want to, but so what, its all about the music to me, not the money, they can get their jollys doin whatever, and I will keep gettin my jolly's from makin tracks (using sampled drums, from whoever sounds good to my ears)

Well vengeance market their sounds as royalty free. They are not.

Most libraries will design their loops from single hits and actually produce the samples themselves, record instruments live, edit them etc.

As i said, vengeance doesn't do anything to the material. Just a case of cut and paste and slap on a high-pass filter.

I think most of them are sampled. Not much original content whatsover. Have you actually listened to a vengeance cd?

Which cds suck that you have bought then? Why are you sticking up for someone who steals other peoples music and passes it off as their own?

because he has mad skills and his original content is just as good as his sampled content. he also is the best patch programmer for Access. his bank was the best one that came with the virusti. the people whos music he "steals" respect him also.

You guys are arguing about petty stuff, why use samples in the first place? Buy some skill. You can't call yourself an artist when all you ever did was throw a bunch of narly crap samples from shitty cds together with premade melodies using premade bass and premade lead sounds. When you do that, you are called a DJ, not an artist.
