When the song first began it sounded promising to me. It quickly turned into every other generic trance song out there. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it though and that's pretty much the point I'm sure!

Exactly, why do you just mention trance then? By doing that you suggest there shouldn't be any trance remixes, but other genres are fine.
At least that's how I read it, but maybe that just me understanding it wrong again or I'm the only one thinking about it.

First of all who says that a surprise should a track outside the genre?
Second: I don't think both examples are typical ASOT tracks even if they fit in the same genre.
Third: do you know the meaning of the word "SOMETIMES"?
Fourth: stating that ASOT listeners don't like surprises must be a joke, because it's based on absolutely nothing.
Fifth: by now you should now I listen to much more than just ASOT tracks, but that it is may fav genre.

I bet any DJ playing a Members Of Mayday track would surprise people these days.

10 on 1 was played by more or less every DJ and his grandmother so no I wouldn't say it's that much of a surprise. The reason you find it a surprise is that Armin's fans are so focused on new and unreleased stuff. The moment he plays a song which isn't from the last week people go OMFG CLASSIC OLDSKOOOL!

The last track of the episode is called the ASOT CLASSIC, so there is no surprise that it is an older track.
The surprise to me just is which track.
Armin, PvD, Ferry, Above&Beyond tracks or remixes can be expected, but some others to me are a surprise.

I never use the word OLDSKOOL, to me that refers to early hardcore only.

yes. but the point was that you made it seem as a big surprise that he played an already overplayed tune from a couple of years ago.
The surprise value of that is not very high.

What would be more of a surprise; if for instance Tiesto played one of his hardcore tracks from early 90s in his radio show.

Because this particular thread is about a trance version. Why would I even talk about a crunk bluegrass tribute to MJ in a thread like this?

You completely missed the point of what we're talking about here.

I'm aware that I'm capable of listening to what I want when I went but again thats not what were talking about.

I really still wish he would've done that. Would've been quite classic honestly.

Okay, a hardcore track would really be a big surprise.
But in the spirit of the show a surprise doesn't need to be that big, at least for me it doesn't need to.

However, if he played Scooter - Cosmos or his own D-Groovy that would be a big surprise to me, because I don't expect that he will play those.

Sorry, must be my mistake then, thought the thread was about the MJ tribute and not really about the track that he played. Topic starter didn't even mention the trackname.

Still, could another remix of a MJ track in a different genry then be considered as a tribute in your opinion?

In my opinion a remix in any genre could be considered as a remix as long as the artist truly had repect for MJ or just liked his tracks very much.
