I'm surprised you'd say that, because looking at the sets in your sig you play a lot of epic trance like Arnej, Rank 1 and Armin Van Buuren.

I think the problem I personally find with progressive (and a lot of dance music) is that there's a lot of deeper, atmospheric stuff being made, but there aren't enough big tracks that can take a set up a gear. It would have been easy to have continued like the first 25 minutes with smooth flowing progressive, but I wanted to take the set somewhere rather than it be flat-line energy from start to finish.

I play all varieties of trance & prog but I truly love the deep moody stuff. I don't play any avb; that's for sure lol. Only remixes. But I do like to play a wide variety of trance. If I were making a set for just me to listen to it would be full of the deep moody big bassline prog.

The stuff I have posted so far is fairly mainstream; I just started making sets at the beginning of this year. But as the year has gone on I've found a lot of new artists whom are really good. The good prog guys are really under the radar which is awesome when you find them because they haven't been outplayed! The sets coming out in the near future get more and more proggy as I caught onto more and more guys I dug!

I wouldn't have left it flat energy wise but what I was saying was since you were only playing a little over an hour maybe spend 50 minutes in the deep stuff and then build it up to a climax in the last 3-4 songs for a spectacular finish.

I see what you mean. That kind of structure is suited to a deep, atmospheric set. I personally have a taste for more epic progressive sounds, and while I love the deep stuff I like to mix it up. This set was supposed to cover different areas because I wanted to show there's good prog being made that doesn't necessarily all sound the same.

Nice mix, enjoyed it. Nice flow, with one of two belters in there. Also checked out your progressive breaks mix. Decent but preferred this one overall..

Only criticism of both mixes is that on the whole, every tune is very much of the same style and sound. I know this is deliberate and for some, this would be one of its strengths, but personally I do like a little more variety of genres/styles within a mix. Purely subjective of course...

Anyway, good stuff, will def have a few more plays from me

Thanks for the bump, the listen and the feedback.

While the focus here was obviously to stick to progressive sounds, I personally think I covered a bit of ground, going from the atmospheric stuff at the beginning to the chunkier Anjunadeep stuff in the middle and the retro-sounding Sasha remix near the end. Of course, prog is a big area these days and I kept it to what I like: the strongly melodic stuff.

Finally listened to this. Not much to add that hasn't been already said, so I'll reiterate:

-track selection, tasty!
-smooth mixing, yes!
-good 'progression', oh yes!

Only real quibble, from a personal stance, is the genre and tone is quite singular throughout, although you do manage to take a few welcomed changes in course as the set moves along. As a showcase of current melodic progressive, though, it's a solid offering.

I haven't responded since I posted my 'am dl'ing' but this is one hell of a mix with some epically good tunes.

I'm not into critiquing technical aspects to mixes so I tend to judge mixes on tune selection. 'Glistening Heaven', 'Desparate Measures' and 'Fieldox' in particular are spectacular but there's not a dull tune in the set. This will be in the car for some time...
