I think it'll be great if they put a real quality sound system in there since its a great space, and a nice big, open room. It has a lot of potential for that.
So let's see what shakes out sound wise.
Hi Chaska!
A better system would be nice. Someone sent me a vid they took from the party and it wasn't good. I heard they moved the bar too for more space. Is that permanent because that would be good?

Yes they moved the bar, its not in the middle, so thats much better.
The sound system they had when we played there was the old Sol sound system, with more subs.
The DJ booth is really high up through - you cant really see the DJ unless you're standing all the way in the back of the room. That's a little bit of a bummer because I feel like the DJ needs to connect with the crowd.
I dunno, I hope they improve some of these things.

Good I didn't go, better to wait for the changes. Yeah, I like seeing DJs do their thing. It sounds a lot like Arena to me with the set up and the meh system.

Now guys I’m not one to moan and whine but if we don’t make a stink about this now (I’m sure management reads this forum) things will not start off correctly.
Why would anyone want to go to a club that closes at 4 Am... It’s just not how things work in Manhattan. Most people I know (I know a lot of people I used to be a big time promoter ) would never step foot in the place unless they stayed open till at leas 6 am.
People... feel free to chime in ...

maybe they dont want to attract that certain type of afterhours crowd?
i mean a few years ago that whole area was soooo hot and crawling with cops shutting venue's down and busting balls
they might just want to have a few dj's come in, set up a few tables and make the best of it till 4am to aviod the nypd and the city

Establishments must stop serving at 4AM by law.
Cielo closes at 4, and they definitely make things work in Manhattan.
Some venues obviously close later, but they rely on cover revenue and basic beverages to hold them up in revenue since liquor can't be served until early morning.

the big room nyc nightlife has been kinda dead for the past few years imo....yea pacha brings in alot of big talent, but the club itself is nothing special i dont care how many awards it won, its the same layout as sf except for pachita which is a good room imo
alot of more smaller and underground parties seem to be better these days (cielo, love, sullivan room, resolute parties etc etc)
with the state of the city and how it feels towards nightlife plus the economy i dont really forsee a big change in the nyc big clubs nightlife anytime soon
