well, after reading all the replies on here, its very disheartening to read what other TA's feel about those who do post, allbeit, promo threads.
I do agree that the rules must be enforced or restated, but to persecute the promoters who are actually out there pushing the non-existent scene in their areas, just plain sucks. I know meeko on a personal level, has all the intentions of making the scene better than it is. I was the one who introduced him to the forum about 6 years ago..and this was the place for us to be current with what we love, EDM, and those who also are into it.
But many TA's are bias towards what/who they like..point blank! This is not to say anyone is a bad person, or better than others. But mostly, noone responds to threads or comments unless they know you. I've even seen mixes go unread or unlisted to because the 'noob' didn't post a tracklisting.
For the record, there is no money to be made in this scene, unless you are producing tracks that are being signed to labels. The parties we do throw in the Tampa/St. Pete area, are to promote the up and coming dj's/producers who are pushing our same sound. Maybe they too have not made it to ULTRA status, but we feel responsible to exposing them to a wider audience.
Maybe one day a lurkin' noob will see such a wack local flyer and get excited about dance music in their area. That would be a fine day indeed, when the scene can grow due to music, and less by how big your name is or your daily post count.
I encourage those who can, to make it out to any of our events, as we are always eager to meet others in the scene, hopefully then we can put this nonsense aside and promote what we all love, The Music! Because that really trumps it all, or at least it Should!!
