The world would be a better place with more musicians in it imho so encouraging peeps to quit because they are not at the top of their learning curve or achieving all that they would want for themselves is not what anyone on a music BB should be doing.

Just sayin

That's just untrue. I don't want to discourage anyone from making music. I was just stating that I like the idea that many of the people who shouldn't be cluttering up the industry with mediocre music might end up disappearing and allowing places like Beatport to become more like how a record shop used to be. Back then if the music wasn't deemed worthy of being marketed to the customer it wouldn't even get a look in.

I don't know about you, but I regard my music as worthy of a respected label. Unfortunately I often get responses from these label A+R's who have supported my previous work but due to the workload of cluttered email inboxes they always miss the 7 day limit on most free hosts and request I send again. Using something like soundcloud often ends up in junkmail too because even I get about 30 soundcloud emails a day saying I have a Private track shared with me and 1500 others Its a cluttered, low standard scene and the sooner the dregs realise they are wasting their time, the sooner the real artists and musicians will get an easier ride.

Before anyone suggests paying for hosting. Don't bother.

Some people just have a faster learning curve than others.

The big producers were learning and making their music up until they deemed it worthwhile to send to labels. The costs involved meant anyone making music had to substitute other things like a new car and posh gadgets etc in order to afford gear to make their music before they were supported by their musical earnings.

Its too easy for idiots to bombard their garbage around the internet instead of holding fire until they come up with something worthwhile.

I have on occasions posted up advice and feedback on tunes here. I have also commented on technical stuff I may have had knowledge on.

As far as I am concerned the topic starter has illustrated himself as the type of person/music maker that irritates me about the scene at the moment. I may well be wrong about the thread starter, but I feel I have added to the conversation positively by adding my own opinion - And it appears a few here agree in one way or another. I think its way more constructive than just saying to someone "Keep going man, you'll make it one day" because most will never make it and most will end up quitting due to a lack of determination. If anything I may even end up saving him a lot of wasted time. Maybe he will try his hand at something else and end up being more successful at that?

Honesty is the best policy IMO. I just speak what I think. Im not trolling. I just like a topical debate now and then, and I hope no one ends up taking opinions too seriously.

Thank you. These where a few insightful posts . Your first post seemed a bit extreme but this puts things in perspective and I understand where you are coming from . Your choice of words isn't always the most kind, it doesn't have to be but I hope you see how much it can be misinterpreted even though you have good intentions.

DEAD_MOOSE,

I've heard Sonic_c and now I've heard you? While I'm not panning your work (you are THIS DEAD_MOOSE?) I certainly don't believe that its quality warrants anything you've posted in this thread.

On that SoundCloud page, "Dead Moose" is the name of the song, not the artist.

I can't find ANYTHING which qualifies his opinion other than a song title. That's the only link to his posts and a body of work that I could find and am therefore left with the assumption that perhaps he is the artist who then adopted a song title, be it his or someone else's, as his pseudonym.

I like this track, its pretty cool. Distinctive is a pretty big label too, they've been around a long time.

The track certainly isn't bad. Has some cool groove to it and a deep atmosphere. BT, however, it's not - not that I would heed advice to quit from BT, himself. It is the best track to Scotthexadecimal's name, however - my opinion but...

I hope it's understood that I'm finding implausibility in his lack of credentials in conjunction with his seeming condescension bordering on sadism. I'm just pointing this out. It's one thing to be discussing problems with over-saturation in the market place but quite another to couch what I perceive to be an insult within that.

I mean Scotthexadecimal no disrespect, either. I've got more tracks up and no label promoting them and I think there's something to be said for that. By the same token, I'm certainly not going to watch, either a troll or Scotthexadecimal, himself, come in and make some fairly generalized claims without pointing out rather glaring inconsistencies connected with them.
