the odds of winning the jackpot never change
Lotto Max is 7 numbers. Normal Lotto 6-49 is 6 numbers (duh). Can you see how the odds of picking 7 correct numbers are much lower than picking 6?

with these carryover draws the total prizes awarded out is higher than sales for that week so its actually a good roi
I assume that by "good" you actually mean "better", since the expectation value is less than 1/100th of a penny. As ChemEnhanced pointed out, the vastly-increased number of people buying tickets pretty much nullifies the effect of any carryover draws; everybody else is in the same position as you and the effect is cumulative. Unless you win the jackpot (for which the odds are truly pathetic), you're liable to find that your $1 million winning ticket is worth a lot less than $1 million.

If you say so. Point is, it's worse odds for a lower payout. You'd be better off playing the Lotto 6-49 on any regular week. (Even then it's still one of the worst ways to gamble)

True. Better to save up your year's worth of lotto tickets and go play one red/black bet on the roulette.

I played the same random numbers the machine spit out last week again this week... wishful thinking that that will make the difference!
