Essentially, it means nothing.
It's like having 200,000 people out of 6 billion determining that Nickleback is the #34 band in the world. |
I'm aware the DJ Mag poll is silly, and most of the votes come from agencies rather than fans, but he's still a well-known DJ. And he's more well known globally than 95.5 The Beat, I can tell you that much.
Anyway, Atlanta's problem has always been the lack of trance. House is popular, dubstep is popular, but trance is forgotten most of the time now-a-days. There are a ton of local house and dubstep DJs, but where are the local trance DJs?
I'm not saying it's Devin's fault, it's not. Any non-top 10 trance DJ fails to draw a crowd. Hell Cosmic Gate was at Opera last year (not a Liqufied event), and the place was DEAD. And this is freakin' Cosmic Gate!
I'm saying that when ATL finally does get a trance DJ in town that they can actually dance to (unlike Armin, since when he's in ATL these days there's no room to move), he gets run out of the club after a 30 minute set. That's just a slap in the face to trance fans.
