To be honest, I think he's finally cooling down. I like Global a lot, and a few of those IDs floating around from his sets are pretty good, but his next single, Sanctuary, is really fucking shitty. I am deeply disappointed in it. Not because it's cheese, but because it is really shitty cheese. Even Sean Tyas couldn't save it.

Formentera What (Gareth Emery Remix) is my favorite song of all time though. This is That, Mistral and Another You, Another Me (with Lange) are also really amazing songs in my opinion.

I like his live sets a lot because he plays a lot of unique mashups (although apparently he's been overplaying them lately) and really builds the set properly.

Definitely a top "trance" DJ at the moment, but if Sanctuary is a sign of things to come, I think he's peaked. Hopefully it isn't.

I really love Gareth Emery's work under the alias GTR, Mistral being one of my all time favorite.
I like his recent remix work as well but you know he has the image of screwing up the vocals (while maintaining amazing melody) on great vocal songs. It does make those tracks sound like child of progressive psy and progressive trance. As for cheesy stuff, well all I can say the music scene has gone industrial (for all the genres and not just trance), and there's no one to blame.

I know what you mean, and I don't think it is. We all know these guys are going to release some cheese here and there, and for every person like you and I that doesn't like it, opens the eyes of 2 other people into his tracks. He is going to be big for a long time if you ask me.

I like some of his stuff...especially his older work. Some of his new tunes are too Armada-ish for me tho.

He is definately better that the Tiesto-Armin pop-trance shit.
