I agree entirely - it's an obnoxious misnomer in the same way that the "D" in any of these terms we use is. The "dance" portion of most electronic music is largely lost when you just suppose it's part of that collective experience of raves and clubs and social get-togethers with lasers and pheromones. Not saying you simply can't or shouldn't dance to it - but what isn't dance music when humans are seemingly capable of inventing some ritualistic momentum to flop around vertically to?

I'm sure people can boogie just fine to Willy Nelson. So it can be said that Willy Nelson makes "dance" music? CWDM. Country Western Dance Music. It's going to be big. Many a square shall be drawn.

It's just a term bred out of connotation, like most others. It doesn't mean much unless you're a nerdy genre snob willing to elaborate on the nuances of so-and-so in the first place.

I've always like his old setup. Looks like a mad scientist torturing music gear to create music for 'ardcore party kids.

It's definitely an unreleased tune. Judging by the laidback vibe + moderate acid work + GX1 sounds and the fact it's his last used output moniker, I'd say it's by The Tuss.

Been a while since I last posted here...

What a great flashback I had when seeing the name of Aphex Twin... I agree with some of the posters as to the whole "IDM" thing, way too snobby for my taste but anyways, can't deny the talent of this guy.

I remember 2 years ago at this after party, we rolled some of the classics and it was just too good to describe. I for one think it's the kinda music you will understand when you're truly and incredibly fucked up.
