While we're on the subject, anyone here well versed in funk (no, not funky house). Artists/Albums/ similar to Stevie in style? Just a genre I'd like to know more about.

Suggestion: This is a worthy question, a great topic that deserves its own thread.
I will certainly be glad to contribute to it and make more recommendations than you can shake a stick at, but I feel that doing so on here would really run the original topic totally off the road.
This primarily being a trance-related board, and being a very junior member here, I do not feel like I want to be the one to start such a thread, but would very much encourage you to do so.

OK, you asked for it: Am I politeness? No, definitely not!
It did cross my mind, however after reading a few of the 99+ pages, must admit that most of what was quoted on there (deep house. WTF?) really was a good attempt at putting many disparate things under that one category. Like the perennial UK favorite, 'funky house'. Or Cosmic Disco. and so on... the only quote I saw that was relevant was someone talking about Dâm Funk. But yeah, TL;DR. Maybe someone should start a thread about REAL Funk (as opposed to fake funk)

you can't speak ebonics without breaking a few eggs.
this board thrives on falsetto rage, it is why it has lasted so long.

Bas, on a scale of 1 to Birds & Souls, how overplayed was it in your neck of the woods, though? Seems like it was in every set out there that I heard last year.
I don't know if I can say it was overplayed because honestly the only people I ever heard play it was us. Granted, we played it at pretty much every opportunity
Side note:
I've been hammering the Classixx remix of Cosmic Kids - Reginald's Groove, it's the new R&B Drunkie imo.

All joking aside, you had some great picks in there. If I start a proper thread about it would you contribute?

i would most definitely contribute
this is what's currently on the left platter in my loft
gotta say that 'whos bringin the funk' thread title always pissed me off
i think i posted one track in there which was like dub/funk influenced house (brenden moeller - n train)
edit, haha i also posted an EP that samples the funkanova track i posted above
and a moodymann live performance of break by stone.
it was pretty clear no one in that thread really wanted anyone to bring the funk.
