It did cross my mind, however after reading a few of the 99+ pages, must admit that most of what was quoted on there (deep house. WTF?) really was a good attempt at putting many disparate things under that one category. Like the perennial UK favorite, 'funky house'. Or Cosmic Disco. and so on... the only quote I saw that was relevant was someone talking about Dâm Funk. But yeah, TL;DR. I don't know if I can say it was overplayed because honestly the only people I ever heard play it was us. Granted, we played it at pretty much every opportunity

i think i posted one track in there which was like dub/funk influenced house (brenden moeller - n train)

edit, haha i also posted an EP that samples the funkanova track i posted above

and a moodymann live performance of break by stone.

it was pretty clear no one in that thread really wanted anyone to bring the funk.
