A mainstay in his native Holland, DJ Tiësto recounts his first brush with bringing forth his passion for sharing music at the tender age of 8 years old. In the early days of his career, DJ Tiësto played records in drive-in disco shows, his sound was focused on club and popular music from the Dutch chart parade. Narrowing his scope to mainly house music, a simple hybrid of beats laden over a bass heavy groove, Tiësto then started to play out his sets at a well known club in Breda called "The Spock". Without ever relying on the sound or trend of the DJ's that ran abound at the time, DJ Tiësto caught the attention of the label manager of Basic Beat Recordings (Rotterdam based Euro record label) just by creating his own distinctive style. Thus came his first mixed series entitled "Forbidden Paradise", followed by producing his own Magik CD series through his own record label, Black Hole records and got signed to a booking agency. While many DJ's tend to follow the alluring trend of playing out only massive tunes with minimal appeal, DJ Tiësto sets himself apart from the pack by hand picking those tunes that will linger in people's hearts and minds hours after the club has closed. With his live performances, DJ Tiësto wants the listener, to be swept away by a seamlessly mixed spectrum of songs that coalesce to provide a spiritual, emotional and fun-filled journey.
