You can take that statement and substitute 'raw' and 'dirty' with any aesthetic belonging to any genre and it would stand.

eg

"These sorts of people seem to like things that are 'deep'. That wobble bass is so RAW man, people just don't UNDERSTAND our MUSIC. That sort of mindset."

As far as the high energy stuff goes - yeah, I think it's motivated by the same stuff as screamo. I think this is a much better comparison than 'heavy metal'. It's angsty, noisy, emotionally obvious.

Many people who like brostep from this group also seem to LOVE electroclash.

This is where brostep comes from - not from grime/dubstep. I'd say it's more of a stylistic fusion of dubstep and electroclash. Maybe all the hipsters are simply survivors of the electroclash wreck living on to wobble another day.

Check out the breaks around 2 min.

this is a pretty damn good mix. i don't usually like sets that are exclusively one genre, be they deep house, dubstep, or whatever. this pretty damn good mix though!

the sounds and structure are basically deep tech house with a broken beat, better percussion and attention to detail in the mix in general.

Some of it actually reminds me of older broken beat detroit techno ala UR.

No! Don't click my sig, either. I'm deleting my sound-cloud account because of this argument. You win. I lose. I've totally just been served. Let me revise my criticism.

Shrillex, while having some genuinely good ideas, doesn't ever follow through on those which would make his tracks more listenable, instead reverting to base musical arguments which aren't entirely complete. And that's why he sucks.

Most genres aren't so popular, though. Rawness and dirtyness are transgressive, and kids love things that make them feel edgy, or that alienate their parents. Precious little music does that anymore.
