Interesting theory, I think you're spot-on. I think whoever made huge jumps in DJ Mag this year were guys who made significant jumps in popularity here in the States, simple as that. A whole new contingent of American kids got onto Facebook and voted for all the guys they've seen throughout the year. A few years ago, maybe that wasn't the case (and the amount of festivals and big parties were also 1/8 the amount they are now).

SHM are almost reaching the peak of their popularity here in the States, so I think that will boil over by the time next year's voting comes up. I think Deadmau5 might go down a few spots, Skrillex might go up to Top 10, and Tiesto will probably stay at #3.

This is all simply because of how they're doing in the States, and I think this is the first year that the States really mattered..

This really more than anything... Guetta really became huge here last year, but probably just lost the #1 vote by not too much. I think we were saying how he had 10 million followers last year around the same time as last years poll. Now he's more than doubled his fan base.

I really wish Guetta being #1 didn't bother me but it really does, I can't get over seeing his name next to the number one. Numbers use to mean a lot to me because i cared what my peers thought about the music that I love, until my peers turned into douche bags. I obviously like what I like, but it was always nice to share the love of trance and tech house with others that knew the music well/

I am 100% shitting on anyone that voted for Guetta and all of the stupid dub step and hipster djs. Kyau and Albert, Super 8 and tab and so many others left out, I'm embarrassed to be American at this very moment, hopefully we can redeem ourselves somehow....I now will never view DJ Schwag again the same way.

I now disappear in the darkness from rankings and totally dismiss what I thought to be a valid voting method. I now rely soley on my ears and of course my fellow trance addicts

It's truly unfortunate a British contest brought you shame in being an American .

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

No, theres really nothing wrong with my statement, most of the votes came from uneducated American's, thus I'm embarrassed to be associated with this country. I can't wait to leave behind the shitty taste of DJ Mag fans. I will always love shows that DJ Mag puts on, but the site has lost their direction due to their marketing goal. Thanks though.

Thanks for what? There were 500k people that voted for this (not all americans btw) out of 5 billion people roaming this earth. There are more people on my NYC block than people who voted for this stupid ass poll. SURELY this represents all aspects of being American.

Hey, I dont like Guetta either, but that doesnt make people uneducated. Its just what they like. Opinion and intelligence: two separate things.

People are WAY to emotional over a freakin poll. Who freakin cares? In what way could this POSSIBLY affect your life?

Side note: I am actually hoping that all this pop-house crap being so popular will shove trance back underground, where it belongs and where it THRIVES.

Underground trance is where it's at, that's for sure. I'll take Chris Lawrence and J00F over any of the modern trance DJs.

I agree with a.l.d.i...the list seems to lag in time. The in mid-to-late 2010, house was kickin' in full stride but last year's list didn't reflect this as much.

I also agree with Eco regarding the US and their "fast food" taste for everything. It had a huge impact this year. EDM in the States continues to grow and with this that, more cheese will follow suit. It's a shame...but next years list will look something like this:

1. SHM 6. Aviici
2. Guetta 7. AvB
3. Afrojack 8. Deadmau5
4. Skrillex 9. Fedde Le Grand
5. Tiesto 10. Markus

And WTF is up with Boy George...SERIOUSLY? Why is he on this list, someone PLEASE explain!!!

The reality is...ok take Martin Solveig for example, he road his catchy "Say Hello" all the way up 26 spots. Why? Because you can now turn on the radio and it on every station. The same goes for few other like Afrojack and "Take Over Control"...and both of these tune were released in 2010 not 2011, further illustrating the lag effect in the results.

Another things that annoys me is that SHM take 4 spots, 1 as a team then 3 as individuals...

Guetta, #1 o_O?

Makes sense, I guess, with 2012 approaching and all...
