OK, so I checked out his music and, not to sound like a hater, but it sounds like generic "me-too" pop/EDM (aside from one horrid country-fried EDM song, which I'm guessing is maybe a joke of some sort?). The OP asked why everybody is copying him - is anybody actually copying him? Aside from that country song, nothing I heard struck me as being original. So, forgive my ignorance, but who exactly is copying him and what about him are they copying?




...and, no, this isn't about me being cool for not knowing anything about Avicii or pop music in general. Believe me, there's nothing cool about being old and out of touch with the mainstream - I have just never been one to follow the Beatport or pop charts and I'm pretty much a pop culture moron.

the only thing that has been coped is the rhythm of the lead synth and maybe the synth slides although i am pretty sure that was on a remix of levels. but ya, levels . Thats it. And i'm pretty sure that trend of melody really hammering 8tho notes was probably around and although it isn't my thing , SHM probably did that before.

His music has this aesthetic that is just weird. It sounds like a rock guy trying to do dance. It doesn't sound like dance music. I mean every pop album in the last 3 years usually has more authentic EDm than a vicii.
