Please show me where I said I was getting a watch to fit in.

I need a watch to tell the fucking time, and I want it to look nice. I'm pretty sure this was in my OP. I specifically said I wanted a quality made watch, not that I was looking to impress anyone. And to think you speak about reading comprehension.

Also FYI, my father has worn a suit every day for about the last 35 years. He also owns a number of watches, I just never paid them much mind because I never used to like wearing watches. But please, continue acting like you know anything about my life and how I grew up.

You've never worn a watch; you're not buying a watch to bring you happiness; people around you notice what you wear.

You're not buying a watch for yourself, you've made that extremely clear. You're doing it because you think you're supposed to. To fit in.

As I said in the last thread, you are fucking terrible at critical reading (and writing), which is yet another reason why I pity you.

Read the first post in this thread. Please.

I've stated numerous times that I want a watch that looks nice (to me) and for convenience of finding the time. You're reading (incorrectly) way too far into what you think I said, which as usual, I didn't.

But again, please show me how I've made it "extremely clear" that I was buying a watch to fit in.

I'm going to go rub some leather balm on my shoes now because it's the little things that count.

Stephen, I just quoted what you wrote. There is no "think you said" here.

You've noticed that you're the only guy (or one of the few) in the office who uses a phone to tell time, that everyone else has watches, and you don't want to be the only guy doing that.

Trying to fit in is fine. It's a natural human reaction to being in a new group. I just worry for you that it won't end well, since it often doesn't. You've had enough troubles in your life, you don't need everyone in the office laughing behind your back.

I'm trying to look out for your best interests here, since I know you need help with this kinda thing.

Your perception of what I meant and what I actually meant are two different things. What I said was that it's inconvenient and can be considered rude to take your phone out so obviously to check the time, not because "I was the only guy in the office who did it and wanted to fit in."

It's really funny how you interpret literally almost everything I say the wrong way. I even stated multiple times that I did not want anything flashy, ie to impress anyone, but just something to tell the time which I thought looked nice and was well made, and if you look at the watch I picked, it's pretty much as plain as they come. So how exactly is that trying to fit in?

You do realize you can't check your watch without it being very obvious, right?

Maybe you don't, since you've never worn one before.

Erm, it's on your wrist all the time. It's quite easy to glance in the general vicinity of your wrist without it being obvious. A wee bit less obvious than taking your phone out of your pocket and pressing a button on it while staring right at it.
