I don't understand why you're out with a jacket to begin with. This isn't the only club that doesn't run a coat check at this time of year. I showed up in a t-shirt and a pair of shorts at 4AM and was completely fine the whole time. Mind you it wasn't as busy then but I show up prepared anyways. If you say it was too cold outside to be walking around in a t-shirt and shorts then you're either not Canadian or you're just a pussy.
From what I've heard the renos are only 75% complete and they are spending a fuck load to completely redo the ventilation which should be done the next couple weeks. I really like the renos they have done so far. The dj booth is creative. Made up of warped pieces of wood - literally looks like a nest. The blue lighting in it reminds me of Comfort Zone's booth. It's also been pushed further back with the speakers (the front two and rear two stacks). Those changes along with the elimination of the raised booth on the west side and the booths right on the dance floor and foosball table has REALLY opened up the dance floor. They have also gotten rid of the god awful lighting rig. The lighting could stand to be dialed back a bit more but it was only an issue for the first few hours of the set then the whole club was darker. I can't stand being blinded by lighting. I prefer lighting that is nice to look at (like Coda's). They have these bare light bulbs hanging by one cord each above the bars and bottle service booths. Not sure if these are new but I really like them.
The DJ booth is very dark and level with the dance floor now. You could hardly see Danny! I wonder if it's intentional so people aren't paying visual attention to the DJ all night like it was back in the day. Focus only on the music and the people around you. Maybe one day people will start dancing in all directions instead of only facing the booth. The area behind the booth is very dark so you can't even see if there's anyone back there... unless they're looking at their phone On the wall behind the booth is a design that reminds of the Batman logo. They project video onto this early on in the night. Very cool addition.
A few other small changes. They have extended the area at the top of the front stairs which should speed up entry and get rid of any bottlenecks. At the back between the bathrooms they have a bunch of warped wood on the wall in the same fashion as the DJ booth. There is a MASSIVE disco ball above the dance floor the size of stereo's. Finally, they had a 10 foot ladder leaning up against the wall near the back with lighting on it. I'm not sure if it was placed there purely for decorative purposes but I definitely bought a 10 foot ladder as decoration when I lived in a loft so I will just assume the same lol. As mentioned earlier, the dance floor seemed softer. I pulled a 12 hour stretch there for Danny's set and my feet survived!
Overall, I really like what they've done so far and am excited to see the rest of the changes they have coming. Obviously fixing the ventilation will make a big difference and hopefully it's completely sooner or later. There were 2-3 areas in the club right on under the a/c units that shot massive amount of cool air out. These spots were golden when I first arrived.
Visually, the club seemed like the offspring of stereo and comfort zone lol
I've been told these changes are still to come: Some middle speaker stacks on the sides, some extra Nest decor, painting & freshening up, plus some additions downstairs including a fully functional kitchen. They will also be adding to the signage at the front to make it look more like the rending Alex shared (I assume).

It wasn't cold at all. I brought my jacket because I thought it might get much cooler at night and it actually didn't. What about people wanting to check in their bags as well...or what if it's rainy? Trust me, I wasn't the only person having this issue, and I don't know what they're gonna do in wintertime unless they add in a coat check area. I thought this was a big fail in my eyes.
Venue itself is good otherwise. I think they made the booth closer to the ground like Coda to give ppl more of that intimate vibe with the DJ, but it also makes ppl not just dance towards the DJ which becomes weird LOL.
If they fix the ventilation issue, they place could become better. I still felt the floor moving up and down a bit like from Ryze days though.
