I really don't know whether I should add it or not. To me, it's some kind of hard epic trance... therefore, I'm not sure if it's really a new sub-genre or if it's just some cross-hair... what do you guys think?

but if its not a big trouble u can replace the genre "psy-trance" with "goa" and put psy as a sub of goa, cos i realized that this way its more correct... anyway, GJ!!
keep up the good work!

Seeing as freestyle has direct disco roots should place it close to disco as well. Eurodance is influenced by freestyle & disco, so it should be linked to freestyle/disco as well... modern eurodance or new euro is influenced by trance & synthpop....

Done Except for new euro because I'm not sure whether if it isn't another genre I might've already posted... what do you consider new euro?

what's this I keep hearing about full on trance within the psytrance scene, is that an official sub genre of psytrance or just some silly term people throw around? I've seen compilations... Full On vol.1/2/3/4 etc...

It's a sub-genre... I wish I could explain more about it, but I don't have much info about full-on goa. Vortex_SA, where are you?

Thanks

I'm wondering.. what does designations like "ibiza" or "dub" mean in the map? just curious

It would be great also to have samples of a track from each genre, but that would be hard I guess

Next to EBM, "Death tance"

Should be "Death trance" no?

Ibiza is a natural evolution from Balearic House. Its origins come from Ambient trance and tribal trance. This is what Chicane produces (e.g. "Offshore" and "Saltwater")

Dub is some sort of minimalistic reggae: no lyrics and harmonies whatsoever. What's left? The bass and ocasionally some chords. If you add a house beat, it becomes dub house. As simple as that.

Since I decided not to merge anymore "anthem" and "epic" trance, and you had asked the difference before, here it comes:

Anthem: More energetic and has an anthem (duh, hence the name). Examples:
X-Cabs - Neuro
Allure - We ran at dawn (Magikal Remake)
Anything (I've heard so far) from Signum, I guess
System F - Exhale

Epic: Not so energetic, may have female voices.
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin Van Buuren mix)

I believe you got it

As a matter of fact, I'm working on it. It'll be something like Ishkur's guide, but I'll focus more on the history of electronic music, so people will know where the hell trance came from, for example I recommend his guide: you hear all the samples you're looking for and, unless you're too touchy, you'll have a great laugh

I was gonna add it But I realised that all you need to know is that the map starts in the grey area Right?

It does exist... it's the kind of trance that evolved to EBM (as you can see on the map). It's some kind of evil uplifting trance There was a thread about it last month, I guess

Who said I took it seriously?

Ishkur's idea was very nice, but the problem of his guide is that he spends half of his time bashing most genres, so you don't really learn much out of it. I did some research on history of electronic music and stuff, so the noob will be happy (I hope). And I will add samples too (and differently form Ishkur's guide, I'll add more than one sample per genre).

If you ask me, Ishkur is a moron who doesn't know what he's talking about half the time. Especially when it comes to music genres. More power to you for doing this, this sounds like a good idea, even though if you ask me, some of the genres are redundant or maybe have like 1 or 2 songs that could classify under.

Yeah I agree. I went to that site, and "Ishkur" came off to me like bitter old fart, just complaining about everything.

not everything, somethings he praised, others he complained about... rightfully so in some cases, judging by the awful sounds of some of the genres

full-on- full on is a defenition for a massive energetic psy-trance, tho it can be attached to other genres (full-on progressive psytrance, full-on melodic...) its preffered to call its in his name... its the complete opposite of minimal, instead of a few sounds playing togather, u have lots of sounds playing togather and creating a feel of power, here is an example of minimal - "mos - dead flat", and an example for full on - "yahel - evolution" enjoy
