I'm wondering.. what does designations like "ibiza" or "dub" mean in the map? just curious |
Ibiza is a natural evolution from Balearic House. Its origins come from Ambient trance and tribal trance. This is what Chicane produces (e.g. "Offshore" and "Saltwater")
Dub is some sort of minimalistic reggae: no lyrics and harmonies whatsoever. What's left? The bass and ocasionally some chords. If you add a house beat, it becomes dub house. As simple as that.
Since I decided not to merge anymore "anthem" and "epic" trance, and you had asked the difference before, here it comes:
Anthem: More energetic and has an anthem (duh, hence the name). Examples:
X-Cabs - Neuro
Allure - We ran at dawn (Magikal Remake)
Anything (I've heard so far) from Signum, I guess
System F - Exhale
Epic: Not so energetic, may have female voices.
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin Van Buuren mix)
I believe you got it

It would be great also to have samples of a track from each genre, but that would be hard I guess | As a matter of fact, I'm working on it. It'll be something like Ishkur's guide, but I'll focus more on the history of electronic music, so people will know where the hell trance came from, for example I recommend his guide: you hear all the samples you're looking for and, unless you're too touchy, you'll have a great laugh
