Dawn, do you plan your mixes beforehand, or just decide "on the fly" what the next track is gonna be?

Because if you do these kinds of mixes -- 18-20 tracks -- the mixing can get pretty tough (just because there's so little time), unless you have an initial idea how fast and loud each track is, and write it down somewhere... But all of your mixes are technically perfect!

Also, do you use your hands for mixing, or only the pitch control? What's your method?

hey eugene: these mixes are planned. I could easily fit 25 tracks in a "on the fly" mix but then the tracks wouldn't match so well harmonically and concerning style, build-ups and so on. But since I'm a perfectionist and mainly do these mixes for myself, I want all the transitions to be good, so I test them before mixing...
I know some people's reactions will be "cheater" or "that's not real mixing, but I never called them "livesets", they are my monthly CDs and I just hate having to hear a transition on a CD over and over again when it's no good.
In a club a bad transition doesn't matter cause you only hear it once and then it's forgotten, but on a CD...

I use my hands on the platter for corrections.
