I listen to almost any Techno DJ in the world, Slam are residents in no less than 3 clubs within 20 miles of me. I know what good techno is and I know what a good Techno DJ is. Tell this? If Picotto mixes like a trance DJ then how do you explain two of the worlds greatest techno DJS(GARNIER AND VATH) also mixing the same way??

imo vath is poor, but hes a pioneer, its like jules, he has great respect coz he was 1 of the 1st, but in comparison now, he doesn't cut it. Thats my view on vath aswell. I've seen picotto out and his mixing is dodgey to say the least. He gets too much respect for what he does purely coz hes a big name.

His sets bore me theres nothing that grabs me, whereas seeing umek for example was something quite special.

What I meant by live in ibiza was that techno djs have been playing a lot of those tunes way before the summer, when that was recorded.

i have to agree with Don/Gio.....listen to what he is saying, mauro himself doesnt say he plays techno when i talked to him..he said he spins a lot of techno since there are more quality prodcutions in this genre but he said he will play a good trance, house or prog song if he likes it and he has at many times....he doesnt want to be catergorized as a techno dj like Gio said...he plays good music to get the crowd going....like i said before some like him others hate him

"y'know i listen to tekno a lot... what that? no, i didn't say techno, it's tekno... no, they are not the same; tekno is underground techno... shut up, i know what i'm saying."

I can't make it anymore clear than I have already done. I understand why you're laughing at me and my whole story. But I don't really care. We have different opinions on this. You say it's a question of spelling, I say it isn't just a question of spelling. For me tekno and techno still stay 2 separate music styles (although they have things in common).

I don't pretend to know what I'm talking about. All I did was saying there is a difference between techno and tekno. And that it's not a question of spelling. I did some research, came up with the facts and arguments to point out the difference. Is that pretending I know much? Hell no man. I'm trying to make a contribution here by answering questions, clearing things up. I never meant to post so it looks as if I knew a lot. As a matter of fact I don't know enough about the difference otherwise I could've come up with more arguments (such as representative artists/tracks). But I posted what I knew and it's up to you guys to judge it right. I don't care if you believe it or not, I just posted my view on the whole thing. You can quote me or laugh at me, do what you wanna do. I said what I thought/knew about it and that's it

same goes for paul, and tiesto too....when you see them live doing a 2hr or a 4hr set they dotn simply play trance...they play differnt gernes...armin plays prog too, tiesto plays prog, trance and techno and paul plays "trance" some electro and techno

IF a dj stick to one genre he has to be stupid sicne he/she will be missing out on soo many quality tunes...people need to stop being soo narrow minded and start accepting other genres than just trance

When I've seen or heared picotto hes just played techno all the way through.

Fundamentally although they don't like to admit it, Armin is a trance dj, granted he doesn't always play trance but thats what he is know for. Picotto plays techno but in a very amature way imo.

were you able to ID all the tracks mauro played? if not how could you tell if it was a house song played at +5 or a techno song played at -2 or a damn prog song played at +4....most of maruos sets have many IDs in it and its not pure techno....

but to end this convo mauro isnt techno he doesnt consider himself to any genre, he palys what he likes....its stupid to catergorize
