I'm totally with Ste.
a few points:
Crasher is not just about music, I go to other clubs and the emphasis on having a good night lies primarily with the DJs, in crasher this is not so prominant due to the numerous friends that I have made there.
Gatecrasher is on once a month, I do not see why we should sacrifice a night that's bound to be good, even if it is Tiesto, to go to a club we can go to every other week of the year.
There is no doubt me and Ste have a sort of allegiance to Crasher, that does not mean we automatically hate other clubs or do not want to give them a try.
Passion may well have a better atmosphere, but no way is it going to replace Gatecrasher in the top spot for a whole myriad of reasons.
Gatecrasher is a multifaceted experience, not a club. |
A good repsonse Toby.
Sorry but going clubbing is about the music. Would you and all your mates go to a garage night? Or a night down the local Ritzy? That said, GC does (on an typical night) have a much better atmosphere to any other club I have been to on it's 'typical' night. And yes, GC is only on once a month and chosing not to go is, for me, a big decision. GC has it's own unique style. The only places that come close are Passion or Gods. That said, I find it hard to comprehend how you could turn down a line up of Tiesto, Matt and Eddie at GC for Rank 1 at Passion, let alone Ferry. Having seen Rank 1 they alone would make it a tuff decision. Personally, for me, I would choose Rank 1 - but thats my choice, even if it means missing one of about 10 GC events at Republic.
One Q' - did you see Sasha and Digweed at GCSSS 2002? As much as my allegiance (and, yes, I do have one for GC - it changed my life, it re-united me with my GF, gave us something special to do together) is for GC itself, that set alone will always be with me for the rest of my life. It was truly inspiring. Not like anything I had experienced before - 5hrs of music that I could totally become immersed in. It was one of a few times that i have been on a journey whilst clubbing. There were some great DJ's in the GC arena but, to broaden my horizons, I decided to listen to Sasha and Digweed in the Bedrock arena. For the same reason, I would like to see Cosmic Gate at Passion. Yet, it seems that, because I no-longer have my un-dying, un-qeustinable, dare I say it, FANATICAL following for all things Simon Raine, I am some sort of hedonist!
Finally, i must agree totally, GC is a multi-faceted experience but for ppl(Ste, not you) to say
| quote: | | thats why it pisses on any other wanky club |
just illustrates how, despite going to what about 5 'super-clubs' Ste?, how close minded some GC regs are. As for me trying to make Ste out to be a 'kid', i think you do that own your own, very succesfully, without any outside help.
