For the record, I am not at all on the same argument as DjSmitty and Dr.Z. Those guys can defend themselves.

I could swear it was South Korea who was starting shit?

And Nat, well said.

Hitler gave the German people what they needed and he controlled what they wanted. Jobs, lives, oppurtunities. He promised them grand things. Did you miss the part of him being a great speaker up on stage, and a mastermind when it came to crowd manipulation? He knew exactly what to say to the German nation to bring out their nationalistic persona and get their vote. He just blamed the recession that Germany was in on the Jewish people. He could've just as easily come to Canada and done the exact same thing; blamed the Americans that it's their fault that Canada is in a state of depression because we're so dependent on their economy.

And I guess you missed the part in the history books where many German soldiers secretly helped some of the civilians of the nations they took over. Obviously nothing is written about that. I'm not totally defending Germany from that era, but the Germans of today shouldn't be held responsible for what happend back then.

quote:
Well, the US (and Britain and others) have had these weapons for almost 60 years and have only used them once against Japan, which was totally justified in my opinion.

actually, they used them twice. And can you tell me how completely leveling 2 cities, killing God knows how many civilians and making those 2 pieces of land completely unusable for the next century or so justify the destruction of a military harbour and not even half as many civilians?

And Dr. Z wtf are you trying to prove? Cause your arguement has no fact, nor a strong opinion behind it. For one, Caesar, and many people's mothers aren't responsible for:
quote:
20 million Russian lives, 10 million German lives, 6 million innocent Jews, almost a million Brits, 300,000 Americans, 45,000 Canadians, 55,000 Aussies and New Zealanders, 400,000 Greeks, 1 million Italians-DJSmitty

There's a major difference right there buddy. Hitler was a psycho crybaby who was hell-bent on getting rid of the Jewish race because he made himself believe that they were responsible for his own failures. And I doubt anybody's mother's here are telling, or were telling their children to hate a certain group lol

eh...dont talk about my momma like that...

and what i have with my parents is what everyone has with theirs.... so that is out of the question to compare....

why do u not see any problems in SAudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Jordan etc.???

advantages of dictatorship over democracy - no worthless strikes, more efficient economy, less worthless privatisation that ruins the economy, less cuthroats.

everyone...dictatorship is not a bad word...those of u who think dictatorship is the worst have not lived in a dictatorship to compare...I HAVE..17 pretty years of my life.....

yes in dictatorship there are many legislations passed that arent acceptable by the people....what makes anyone think that it isnt the case in a democracy???

final thought before i stop posting in this usual flame style thread:
If Hussein was such an evil person, wouldnt the whole country realise that and organize a coup????just because the American president says hes evil, alot of u jsut willingly believe him.....pathethic..

...many people confuse that with tyranny...which is normal cause one leads to the other many times.

I think you are a racist in Training. Hate is Taught. It seems u are having it taught well. If I, where to hold everything against ppl just because of the past I would not be the kind of person I am today, which, in IMO, am a damn good one. If I were to think Like you then I could not have any jewish friends. I do have Friends that are and that I talk to. You know why we are friends? Because we put the Fucking past behind us and Live For Today and Not the Past. I got friends from all nations and I like it better that way. Second of all, All those Germans that elected Hitler back then ARE DEAD! I didn't vote for him, my parents neither. Quit digging in the past and live for Today becasue Today we can make it better than then.

I'm for the war, but only if USA can produce SOLID evidence that iraq is building a nuclear bomb.

Otherwise, this war is going to accomplish nothing. US will destroy Hussein, put their own puppet in power in Iraq, but in process they will acquire SOOOOOOO many new enemies ! Not a good strategy !

I remember a tutorial last year where we discussed how the German education system practically breezes through the Holocaust and downplays the nation's guilt. Maybe that's why you're so defensive about a shamed nation?

1) obviously a country won't be so glad and willing to admit to such an atrocity
2) with people like you who are always bringing this subject up, how do you not expect people to be defensive?

It's sad that you see how you hold such a grudge and so readily blame Germany for all of it, when you have no direct involvement to the war.

*snorts some Coke with E*Master*

I'd really prefer just dropping a pill though

this war has nothing to do with "weapons of mass destruction"... its all about US securing oil reserves for the next 15-20 years...

it's interesting to see how US first accused iraq of conspiring with al queada terrorists, then slowly changed their story to human rights violations of his own people by saddam (and US of course failing to mention 10-12 year old sanctions they imposed that killed thousands), and now finally to "weapons of mass destruction" (that every country in the world has mind you)...

pathetic excuses, one after another, and thats why the rest of the world wants nothing to do with this...

I don't know the true reasons for this war(and for that matter, neither do you, nor anyone on this board), but I think that if Saddam indeed has a nuclear program, he SHOULD and MUST be eliminated. You can't let a maniac have nuclear weapons!

Every country in this world?? are you out of your mind??

one question: wouldn't it be easier and cheaper for the States to just do business with iraq and buy oil from them?

edit: then again...would Hussein even want to do business with the States
