Talk to Her is a great movie IMHO....

a tad bit overated but still quite good...The academy just loves anything Pedro almodovar churnes out

I've seen it.. it's not bad.. it definitely isn't nearly good enough to win an Oscar over Amelie, but pretty amusing [if you know all the Balkan psyche, which shouldn't be a problem for you]

As far as 'Talk to her' being overrated - WTF?!?! The screenplay is perfect, very original too.. and you just don't feel like getting out of the theatre after seeing it.
Almodovar is amazing.. check out any of these [by him]:
All about my mother
Dark Habits
Women on the verge of nervous breakdown
Matador
Tie me up, tie me down
High heels
What have I done to deserve this?
Law of desire
etc..

Well as I said I have not seen "No man's land" yet, but Amelie was great for sure! I was actually very very surprised that it did not get an Oscar. Just the way it was done, it seemed that every single small detail was perfect. Not to mention that it leaves people smiling for at least a day or two after watching it

Go see 'The Good Thief', it's very.. satisfying, seductive, I guess those are the words I'm looking for. I enjoyed it a lot. Great camera works. Soft jazzy music; great sunrise shots of the coast. Good dialogue. It's very simple and modest scenario and at the same time stylish. It's not of a Hollywood touch and leaves out the cliches. It's actually a fantasy. [mine?] Kusturica plays a Russian and is really humorous.

check out his lines, they're hillarious [beatle]
But the interesting thing is that Kusturica [Bosnian] plays a guy from Vladivostok, while the girl [Gruzinka] plays a Bosnian. Funny.

It's playing in Toronto already, don't know about Montreal.

just came back from seeing the good thief, wow, great film... it starts out kinda slow, but picks up right after...

*sigh*

seeing all the shots of monte carlo and paris made me so nostalgic about europe... and watching them smoke everywhere didn't help either

anyways, definately go see it!

I love when they show Europe in the movies Actually this is the only part that I liked in "The Bourne Identity" and XXX(well, also the begining with Ramstein ). Talented Mr. Ripley also wins a lot because its action is taking place in Europe. Will definately watch it.
