I had to look up ataraxic, but yeah, I fully hear what you're saying. But an open relationship is always going to be a weird situation man. To even begin to make it work is going to require quite a bit of emotional detachment (on yours, or both your parts). To me, anyway, that seems to be sort of the opposite of a 'relationship.'
Yeah, I remember. TheWhiteQueen, right? |
yeah, good memory dude. and yeah, i'm quite detached in general. been looking into the philosophy of the stoics lately, if that helps at all (relates to the state of ataraxia)

Men are fairly sensitive creatures and aren't comfortable not knowing where they stand when things get complicated, be it in life, relationships or work. They get to thinking too much about potential problems that may cause them to be, or for the more vain, make them look vulnerable to their peers and in the case of relationships, they start thinking all sorts of goofy things.
Not really very sensitive of me to your plight I know and I'm sorry if you take that the wrong way, but it's not exactly one of my virtues. |
yeah to be honest i don't fit most of that. i'm sensitive, but i'm absolutely confortable with uncertainty. to a fault, even.

We all like to think we're comfortable and brave with facing life's uncertainties and picking through what we think and what we feel as being easy. But I'm yet to meet anyone who's genuinely happy being in any kind of severe uncertainty for long periods of time when expectations don't meet what we think should be happening. It causes fatigue, your clarity of thought goes to hell and all you want to do is just cop out and run away, save yourself the bother.
Which is where you are now.
You thought you'd be happy and had expectations of her, turned out you aren't getting what your expectations wanted and it hurts. No one would genuinely think any lesser of you for feeling that way, it's a pretty crappy situation. |
never said i was happy with the situation, just content
content isn't really the right word though
i'm not happy with it, but not unhappy enough to warrant changing it
thats how i feel about uncertainties
if i spent more time worrying about what i was gonna do with my life etc i'd be fucking miserable, i'm 3-4 years out of high school and i just chose a major
also, case in point for my way of looking at things
i don't usually expect much of anything or worry about much of anything, and the one time i do...suprise, it sucks!

Cheer up Mezzir, don't let it get you down
Pick yourself off the ground, it's gonna be alright
Cheer up Mezzir, you're looking kinda sad
Your life ain't so bad, just think of all the good times
Remember your thirty-third birthday you threw a great big party
All of your friends were there for you, Greg, Bret and me
We brought you a cake in the shape of a four and a three
Because we all thought you were 43
You got a dog, who loves you Mezzir
He's one hell of a dog, he's an English bulldog
You've got a car don't you Mezzir, it's an '03 Accord
Only one previous owner
And you've got a job, you've got all your limbs!
You got a sensitive nose, and you know tae-kown do
You're good at matching your tie to your clothes
You've got a wife....although she comes and goes
Some people don't return your calls (they don't return your calls)
People will call you ginger balls (they'll call you ginger balls)
Those people don't know what they see, they just see ginger balls
Ginger balls
Cheer up Mezzir, it's time to forget
Your wife met someone on the net
Let's go and get an ice cream
Cheer up Mezzir, so nothing goes your way
It's the same every day
But tomorrow is another daaaayyyyayyy
