I dunno, I don't even have to be motivated anymore to go. It's so routine to me it's just something that I DO; like brushing my teeth as soon as I wake up or something.

But if it is to the point where you don't like going, I would reccomend changing your workout to something you enjoy. There are a million ways to be active - that might be one of the reasons it's a chore to you - you've just got to be creative and find a way to be active AND have fun whhile doing it. Whether that be incorporating a training buddy, setting aside weekly rewards for yourself for gym attendance, or incorporating activities you enjoy into your workout. Whatever works for you.

Music fuels every workout of mine! I usually spin and record for about an hour before I go to the gym. Gives me a chance to review my mixing and also fresh tunes every time I lift.

Its the same attitude that makes me go kick my ass in hiking and run 10 miles. It feels good at the end, and im always glad I did it. Plus you can see the results. I dont get how people DONT go to the gym.

Go get a skinfold test done. This will give you your precise body fat, and all your critical measurements.

Redo it after a few weeks.

Its pretty addictive.

Make sure you mix up your program heaps, and change it often. Get a workout partner, and listen to trance on your mini disc, this shit works for me!

i know im kinda late on this one. lol

i have the same problem as Dmatrox. i used to go to the gym like 5 times a week but that was years ago. i just cant find the motivation to go anymore. i even bought a total gym, which is suprisingly effective, and ive even lost the motivation to use that now too. it is like a chore. i wish i could find the motivation to go cause i am a little scrawny, and i wanna build more muscle, or atleast get a decent set of pecs and maybe a slightly noticable six pack. i dont need to be crazy ripped or anything.

well...i'm not one to give guidance about keeping to working out because i've had my slumps with that...and i think the main reason i would have problems is because i'm not doing other shit right. i mean if you are eating right...you're gonna have a lot of energy and wanna go make some muscle. if you aren't eating right then you are gonna feel really lazy and won't be productive.

I'll make a suggestion to you, a pretty simple one but surprisingly effective:

Think up one or two goals, write them down, and start from there. Maybe your first goal can be to work out 2 times this week. Simple enough! And then build off of that and soon you will see it snowball. But KEEP WRITING THEM DOWN until it is just second nature for you to do these things. Here is a story you might be able to relate to:

Each week I set aside a certain amount of money for vinyl. And then I go to the record shop or online and spend that money. Well it first started out that I would go and just browse and see what they had and make my purchases that way. Alot of fun yes but, then I looked at my vinyl collection and saw just a bunch of random shit! So now I have written down a master list of the vinyls that I want; 3 weeks out of the month I have to buy from that list, 1 week out of the month I can look for random stuff. Now my collection is growing in a more desirable fashion - as long as I stick to my plan.

My point is, you'll be more likely to get your results and stay motivated if you know what you're working towards and you've set expectations for yourself. Hope this helps!

Edit: Make sure you include dates in your goals; they should always correspond with a timeframe, that way you force accountability on yourself. And one more thing, if I ever don't feel like working out I think this to myself: "I bet Richard Simmons is working out right now, no way am I going to let that bastard outwork me!"

I got that lean ONCE. I did it the summer before my senior year in college. My diet all summer long was tuna, chicken, oatmeal, and protein shakes. I looked great but felt like shit. Well, maybe not like shit but my strength levels were so low it was ridiculous. I was always getting comments at the gym: "That's all you can lift?? Man, you look alot stronger than that!"
