I'm a Southern California guy and a Big Angels fan since before they were L.A. or "trendy" to root for
and I know we need a 3rd baseman and a big bat in the lineup.

The Angels have big-time pitching to offer the Yanks for A-Rod plus A-Rod could further his Hollywood career in Cali.

AND our owner can and would pay for his massive contract.

So what do you say? Ervin Santana and Jared Weaver for A-Rod?

Deal or no Deal?

The Angels would be absolutely insane to do that deal.

Heres my issue with the Angels, trading ARod to that team would be like shooting yourself in the foot because... the Angels are one of the few in the AL that own the Yankees.

I saw trade rumors that the Angels were looking to send Chone, Ervin and prospects for ARod.

Id rather have Willis, Johnson and Cabrera... Its about time the Yankees looked to get a young rotation for the first time in... forever. And the Marlins shouldnt be too hurt by it because... well, they somehow manage to find all these awesome prospects every year.

You're not getting Willis, Johnson, OR Cabrera for Alex Rodriguez, let alone all three of them.

Jason Johnson is a Free Agent. And from a previous post, Id send ARod with Sheffield or Abreu, plus pick up half of the remaining salary of ARod for Willis and Cabrera.

Basically, Id just look to try to get rid of ARod, Sheffield and Abreu's salaries. They could than move Matsui to right, and start Melky in left.

Ive also heard stuff about the Yankees getting Soriano back and stick him in left, but Im not too crazy about the idea. I think they should give Melky a chance, I think they have something special there.

Also...

I was talking to my cousin yesterday, and he talked about picking up Nomar for 1st base if the Dodgers dont resign him, but again... something Im not too crazy about since he's so injury prone.

Sheffield? He has an option. Also... you're making deals as if the Marlins owe the Yankees something. Why would they trade a 23 years old 3rd baseman who batted .340 with 26 homers and 110 RBI and a 24 year old lefty starter that EVERY team wants for the same production from 3rd base, yet 10 years older, and another aging corner outfielder? It really makes no sense for the Marlins. Those two players would DOUBLE their payroll.

Shamus, Im just doing some dreaming.

But, Im sure Willis is on Cashman's cash card. And Johnson is a FA, I hope they go after him too.

Don't people learn the lessons of Vazquez, Burnett and Willis? Sure, these guys are good in the NL, but that's b/c they're facing SIGNIFICANTLY weaker lineups! Once you stick them in the AL East, they become average pitchers. I, as a Yankee fan, want nothing to do with Dontrelle, as he'll come at a huge price (prospects). Pitching is definetly on the agenda for this offseason.

That being said, I'm happy at the development of Bruney this year. Small sample size aside, he's shown confidence in his fastball and above average offspeed stuff. I'm excited for him next year, and he's only 24.

You make it sound like luck - It's all a product of A) Superior scouting than other teams B) A crappy lineup that gives opporutinies for young players to be tried out, sometimes out of necessity and C) Lack of payroll, which prohibits teams from signing big name players that would otherwise block a player from getting a shot.

Soriano being traded and Matsui getting hurt was a blessing in disguise as the Yanks were able to discover Melky and Cano. I think they'll both be above average players when all is said and done... Although Cano may have a higher ceiling.
