You still don't get it. It's not about HAVING to pay them back, it's about WANTING to. My parents never asked me for any repayment, and in fact they discouraged it. Jesus you are a lost cause. Your parents would have been a lot better off if they had aborted you.

Also I am not broke. I have a significant retirement fund and investment fund lol. But everytime I have said "I want to use some of this money to help myself out" my dad has shot it down and said that'd be stupid and I should hold on to it instead and written me a check.

That sounds like your issue then mate, because most people tend to not have a burning desire to repay their parents for everything, since there is a pretty implicit system established, at least in western society where that is NOT the case.

Repayment for most parents is seeing their child succeed.

Spare the slychology. If I was able to pay them back over $150,000 in 4 years straight out of college I'm pretty sure I've succeeded.
