I kind of played with a full grown lion once.
At the Miami zoo the animals are in open areas, outdoors, with bridges going over the motes to "caves" with large plexiglass windows. There you can view them with only 1 inch of separation.
I went into the lion cave and there was a large male laying against the glass. I watched him for a while and then I started moving my hand around where he could see it. After a while he started swatting at my hand. I moved my hands up a little and he stood up and continued to play. Before it was over I had him up on his hind legs beating on and biting at the glass. The pane would rattle and vibrate like hell when he came down on it. At one point I had my face up against the glass right in front of his face. He tried to bite me and I looked straight down his throat.
I stopped after a while because a family came in and the little kids were scared. To finish off a great experience the lion let out a huge roar as I left.
And before you accuse me of harrassing a poor animal, I know that he was having fun. I don't know much, but I know cats.
