Franco persecuted the Catalan and Basque languages/culture, that's a fact. But in football context, Barça was big in Spain and Europe, in the 50s (Kubala & co), in the 60s (even when R.Madrid was the good image of the nation outside Spain, but when Kubala left, Barça wasn't as strong as it was), and again strong during the 70s (arrival of Cruijff & co).
Prosperity... the loses were huge in all Spain, after the war (till the 60s, after the 'Decenio Bisagra' era), not only in 'separatist' regions.
Otherwise, Euskadi and Catalunya always have been two economic, industrial, etc. powerhouses in Spain.
